Argo CD review
A capable open-source choice for Git-driven, multi-cluster Kubernetes delivery.

Argo CD is an open-source, declarative GitOps continuous delivery tool for Kubernetes. It is designed for teams that want Git to define desired application state while deployments run across one or more Kubernetes clusters. Argo CD compares live state with the state in Git, then supports automated or manual synchronization. Configuration can use Helm charts, Kustomize, Jsonnet, YAML, or custom configuration-management plugins, making it suitable for teams with varied Kubernetes delivery practices.
Its strongest area is deployment visibility and control. A web UI, CLI, and API server support deployment operations, while application health analysis, drift detection, and drift visualization help teams identify differences between declared and live state. RBAC and multi-tenancy support shared environments, and deployment hooks, sync phases, and sync waves allow ordered rollouts. GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket integrations fit common source-control workflows, while Prometheus and Slack integrations extend monitoring and notification options.
Argo CD is self-hosted open-source software, so teams take responsibility for operating the platform rather than adopting a vendor-hosted service. The published capabilities include application rollback to a previous deployed version, but rollback is manual rather than automatic. Progressive Syncs are documented as a beta feature, which matters for teams seeking a mature progressive-delivery workflow. Choose Argo CD when Kubernetes GitOps, multi-cluster management, and Git-based control are priorities. Teams seeking hosted operations, automatic rollback, or a fully managed service should consider another deployment approach.
