ApsaraDB for ClickHouse is Alibaba Cloud’s fully managed, cloud-native OLAP database service built on ClickHouse. It supports Enterprise and Community-compatible editions for analytical workloads, with SQL querying, column-oriented storage, vectorized execution, parallel processing, and tiered hot and cold storage. It is suited to teams running ClickHouse-compatible analytics in Alibaba Cloud environments, particularly where managed operations, multi-zone deployment, and integration with Alibaba Cloud data services matter.

The service offers three deployment plans. Single-Replica Edition includes at least 8 cores, at least 2 nodes, and a single replica. High-Availability Edition adds a double replica and disaster recovery support while retaining the same minimum core and node requirements. Enterprise Edition pay-as-you-go bills compute per second and storage hourly, with a serverless compute and storage model. Enterprise Edition also separates compute from storage through shared OSS storage and supports serverless autoscaling. There is no free plan, so it is aimed at paid production or analytical deployments rather than no-cost evaluation.

Operational controls are a notable strength. Resource queues and query-priority management support workload governance, while monitoring covers CPU, memory, IOPS, connections, TPS, and slow SQL. Integrations include OSS, MaxCompute, Flink, Spark, Kafka, DataWorks, Data Management Service, Data Transmission Service, MaterializeMySQL, and MySQL external tables. Private networking, selectable versions, replica options, and multi-zone deployment support managed production environments. Choose ApsaraDB for ClickHouse when Alibaba Cloud compatibility, ClickHouse interfaces, and managed scaling are priorities. Consider another option if a free plan, fully open-source deployment, or automated minor engine-version upgrades is essential.
