Appian Case Management is a configurable casework application suite for enterprises and government organizations. It covers case intake, configurable forms, custom case fields, case-type data models, workflows, tasks, milestones, task blocks, rules, and criteria-based automation. Teams can also manage documents, review audit history, and use dashboards, KPI views, pre-built reports, and a report builder. Access is available through web, iOS, and Android applications, with cloud and self-managed deployment options.

The published plans are structured as per-user, per-month, per-app tiers, with numeric amounts handled through contact with sales. Standard includes mobile apps and low-code process and application development, while Case Management Studio is excluded. Advanced adds Case Management Studio, offline mobile access, and Process HQ. Premium includes those capabilities plus expanded AI capabilities. There is no free Case Management Studio plan. This structure makes the tier choice important for organizations that need offline work, Process HQ, or the Studio-based case configuration environment.

Appian’s breadth is its main strength: configurable data models, workflow controls, reporting, audit history, documents, mobile access, integrations, RPA, portals, and the Appian Cloud Database support varied operational casework. The product suits organizations that need a common platform for complex processes and configurable case types. It is less suited to teams seeking a narrow, ready-to-use case tracker with straightforward public pricing and a smaller feature set. Organizations choosing Appian should be prepared to evaluate the appropriate tier and deployment model around their workflow, reporting, mobile, and AI requirements.
