Our verdict on ApolloFM
ApolloFM is a live internet-radio directory and player for listeners who want to find broadcasts by place or genre rather than start with a station they already know. It runs on the web and iOS, with search by station name, city, genre, or country and charts showing stations being streamed. The site lists more than 40,000 stations from over 230 countries and territories. It connects listeners to public radio streams; it does not host or produce the broadcasts. Its location-led browsing makes it a fit for curious listeners, while people seeking offline playback or wider platform coverage should look elsewhere.
Discovery is the product’s clearest distinction. Listeners can browse by map, country, state, city, or genre, then save and favorite stations. On iOS, playback continues in the background with lock-screen controls, and CarPlay and AirPlay are supported where the operating system allows. These tools suit listeners who want to explore stations geographically and continue listening from an iPhone. The published platforms are web and iOS, so ApolloFM is less suitable for anyone who needs an Android app or offline listening.
ApolloFM has a free, ad-supported web and iOS option. ApolloFM Pro costs $4.99 per month, with a 3-day free trial; the applicable price may vary by region and is shown in the App Store. Pro removes ApolloFM-placed advertising, removes listening caps and session limits, allows unlimited saved stations, and provides full published stream bitrates. It does not remove commercials embedded in station streams. The free tier is a reasonable starting point for casual browsing, while frequent listeners who want higher limits and expanded saving may prefer Pro. Those who expect all audio to be ad-free should choose a different service.
