API-Mocked review
A self-hosted, open-source mock server with dynamic responses and Socket.IO support.

API-Mocked is an open-source standalone server for developers who need local API mocks during development and API testing. Written in Go, it compiles to a single binary and serves configured HTTP and HTTPS endpoints, alongside WebSocket connections through Socket.IO. Its self-hosted model suits teams that want to run mocks in their own environment and define behavior directly in configuration.
The strongest feature is its control over response behavior. HCL configuration supports authentication with JWT and BasicAuth, CORS headers, delayed responses, multiple responses, and timer-based responses. Response values can come from request headers, query paths, and JWTs, allowing mocks to reflect request-specific data rather than returning only fixed payloads. This makes API-Mocked useful for testing authentication flows, asynchronous behavior, and changing response scenarios.
API-Mocked remains focused on a narrow, configuration-driven mocking workflow. Request matching is path-based, so teams needing detailed matching across query parameters, headers, or request bodies may need a different tool. The workflow also centers on HCL instead of OpenAPI import or generated mock data, and deployment is self-hosted rather than managed. Choose API-Mocked when a compact local server, open-source codebase, HTTP and HTTPS coverage, or Socket.IO support matters. Choose an alternative when a broader integration ecosystem, OpenAPI-centered workflow, or hosted service is the priority.
