Amplio review
A focused Amplitude-compatible analytics stack for teams that control their infrastructure.

Amplio is an open-source, self-hosted product analytics platform for teams that want behavioral event data to remain on infrastructure they control. It supports an Amplitude-compatible HTTP event ingestion API, browser and Node SDKs, event segmentation, funnel analysis, retention and cohort analysis, dashboards, user lookup, feature flags, and experiments. A React dashboard provides chart building and saved dashboards, while local desktop apps are available for macOS and Linux. Its strongest fit is for technical teams seeking an Amplitude-compatible foundation without adopting a hosted analytics service.
The analytics feature set covers the core questions product teams ask about behavior. Teams can break down events by user or property, configure funnel conversion windows, examine retention and cohorts, and inspect per-user event activity streams. The dashboard includes a chart builder and saved dashboards, giving the product a useful reporting layer alongside its query and ingestion services. ClickHouse handles event storage, while Postgres stores metadata; SQLite is also included among the supported integrations. Feature flags and experiments extend Amplio beyond retrospective reporting into product evaluation workflows.
Deployment is centered on Docker-based self-hosting, so Amplio suits organizations prepared to manage their own analytics infrastructure. Its MIT-licensed, early-stage status makes it more appropriate for teams comfortable with source-available software and a project described as moving fast. The narrow ecosystem is a trade-off: Amplio focuses on its ingestion API, storage engines, SDKs, and core analytics rather than a broad integration catalog. It also does not provide session replay. Choose Amplio when infrastructure control, open-source access, and Amplitude-compatible ingestion matter most; choose another product when hosted delivery, wider integrations, or session-level replay are central requirements.
