Amazon SageMaker Model Monitor is a cloud service for monitoring machine-learning models in production. It is designed for teams operating real-time inference endpoints and batch transform jobs within the Amazon SageMaker ecosystem. Scheduled monitoring jobs compare live or production data with baselines, apply rules, and surface violations through alerts. Its coverage includes data-quality drift, model-quality measures such as accuracy, bias drift, and feature-attribution drift. Built-in monitoring supports tabular data, while teams can bring their own containers for non-tabular data.

The usage-based pricing model charges for the underlying compute and storage resources used. Built-in rules include up to 30 hours of monitoring at no charge per month, but there is no separate free plan. The service fits organizations already budgeting for SageMaker workloads and AWS infrastructure, rather than buyers seeking a simple fixed-price monitoring tool. CloudWatch integration provides the listed alert channel, while Amazon S3 and SageMaker Clarify extend its fit within AWS data and model workflows.

The main buying constraint is availability: AWS states that SageMaker Model Monitor is no longer open to new customers as of July 30, 2026, while existing customers can continue using it. AWS also states that it does not plan to introduce new features. Existing SageMaker customers who need scheduled checks across quality, performance, bias, and attribution can find a broad monitoring scope here. New buyers, or teams wanting an actively expanding standalone monitoring product, should consider alternatives instead.

  • Where it doesn't
    • No free plan; pricing depends on underlying compute and storage usage
    • Availability is limited because AWS stopped accepting new customers July 30, 2026
    • AWS does not plan to introduce new features
