ALZip review
A capable free-for-personal-use Windows archiver with strong split-archive support.

ALZip is a Windows archive utility from ESTsoft for creating, opening, extracting, encrypting, and splitting compressed files. It suits Windows users who need support for both common formats and the vendor’s ALZ and EGG formats, particularly when split archives or command-line workflows matter. Its archive coverage includes ZIP, LZH, TAR, and JAR, while it can extract split archives from ALZ, EGG, ZIP, RAR, and ACE formats.
The licensing structure separates personal and business use. The Personal plan is free for qualifying domestic individual users when the product is used for noncommercial purposes. The Business plan covers commercial and organizational use through an enterprise license. For file protection, ALZip supports ZIP 2.0-compatible encryption as well as AES-128 and AES-256 algorithms. It also supports Unicode filenames in EGG archives, giving users a practical option for compressed files that include non-ASCII names.
ALZip fits naturally into a Windows workflow through Windows Explorer-based extraction, and its alzipcon utility adds command-line compression and extraction. The strongest reason to choose it is its combination of split-archive creation, split-archive extraction across several formats, encryption, and Explorer integration. The main limitation is platform scope: users on other operating systems should choose a cross-platform alternative. Organizations also need to account for the enterprise licensing requirement, while users who need to create split archives in formats beyond ALZ and EGG may need another tool.
