Alibaba CloudMonitor review
A broad monitoring service with especially strong fit for Alibaba Cloud environments.

Alibaba CloudMonitor is a cloud monitoring service for operations teams managing Alibaba Cloud resources, internet applications, hosts, networks, and business metrics. It combines dashboards, resource and host metrics, event monitoring, custom business metrics, threshold-based alerts, synthetic tests, and Kubernetes monitoring. The service also covers non-Alibaba Cloud hosts through an agent and supports hybrid or multicloud scenarios. Web and API access make it suitable for teams that need both a monitoring interface and programmatic access.
Pricing is structured around a free CloudMonitor Basic plan and paid capabilities that are primarily usage-based. Basic is free to use without activation, with quotas including 1,000 alert text messages per month and 1 million metric-query API calls per month. Hybrid Cloud Monitoring adds dashboards, resource usage reports, second-level monitoring, real-time data exporting, multicloud, hybrid-cloud, and cross-account monitoring, plus custom data retention up to 367 days. Network Analysis and Monitoring adds site monitoring, synthetic tests, browser tests, and network quality analysis, with charges based on detection requests or resource-plan usage. This makes the product approachable for initial monitoring while requiring closer usage planning as coverage expands.
Its strongest technical fit is Alibaba Cloud’s ecosystem, with integrations for Alibaba Cloud services, Managed Service for Prometheus, Simple Log Service, Function Compute, Auto Scaling, Kafka, MaxCompute, DingTalk, WeCom, and webhooks. Monitoring can span services and regions through application groups, while synthetic checks support HTTP, PING, DNS, MTR, and TRACE. Prometheus integrations and PromQL support extend the platform for hybrid environments, and Function Compute metrics cover serverless workloads. Choose CloudMonitor when Alibaba Cloud is central or when these cloud-native integrations matter; teams seeking a provider-neutral monitoring focus may prefer a platform not centered on Alibaba Cloud.
