Alibaba Cloud Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK) provides managed Kubernetes clusters for deploying and operating containerized applications. It is aimed at teams running workloads across Alibaba Cloud, edge locations, on-premises data centers, and third-party clouds. The platform covers managed control planes, serverless clusters without user-managed nodes, workload deployment, lifecycle management, access control, policy enforcement, and integrated operational services. ACK One adds centralized management for clusters across Alibaba Cloud regions, on-premises environments, and third-party clouds.

Pricing is split between ACK managed Basic and ACK managed Pro. Basic is an entry-level managed Kubernetes cluster with no cluster management fee, while associated cloud resources are billed separately. Pro is production-oriented and charges a cluster management fee on a pay-as-you-go basis. According to the published plan, the starting amount is $0.09 per cluster per hour, billed monthly, with associated cloud resources billed separately. Pricing is usage-based and region-sensitive, so the cluster fee does not represent the full cost of services such as compute, networking, storage, load balancing, monitoring, or other connected resources.

ACK’s ecosystem fit is strongest for organizations already using Alibaba Cloud services, including Elastic Compute Service, Elastic Container Instance, Container Registry, Virtual Private Cloud, Server Load Balancer, Managed Service for Prometheus, Simple Log Service, Resource Access Management, and Alibaba Cloud Service Mesh. Its feature set also includes HPA, VPA, KEDA, node autoscaling, rolling updates, rollbacks, RAM and Kubernetes RBAC authorization, and Gatekeeper and OPA policy controls. Choose ACK when hybrid multi-cluster management and Alibaba Cloud integration matter. Teams seeking a narrower Kubernetes service or a simpler cost structure may prefer an alternative.
