Algolia is a hosted search and discovery platform for websites, mobile applications, and digital experiences. It is designed for developers and business teams building site search, ecommerce search, documentation search, enterprise search, and other discovery experiences. The platform provides search APIs, client libraries, UI components, indexing tools, relevance controls, analytics, recommendations, personalization, and merchandising capabilities across web, iOS, Android, and API environments.
Its plan structure covers both initial evaluation and usage-based growth. The Free plan includes 10K search requests per month, 50K records, 5K recommendation requests per month, and 5K crawls per month, with no credit card required. Grow adds Keyword Search + Browse, query suggestions, and data transformation alongside included usage allowances and overage charges. Grow Plus adds AI Synonyms, AI Ranking, Advanced Personalization, and 90 days of analytics retention. Elevate is positioned for enterprise-scale AI Search and adds NeuralSearch, AI Collections, Smart Groups, real-time personalization, and 99.99% availability; it requires annual contract pricing.
Search depth is Algolia's main differentiator. NeuralSearch combines keyword and vector-based semantic search in one API, while faceted filtering, facet-value search, synonyms, rules, dynamic re-ranking, recommendations, and merchandising support more controlled discovery experiences. Search behavior can be tracked through analytics and event tracking, and integrations include Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, commercetools, Supabase, Shopify, Salesforce, Segment, and Google Tag Manager. Algolia is a strong fit for teams that want managed search with room for personalization and commerce features. Teams requiring self-hosted deployment or highly predictable fixed pricing should consider alternatives.
