Akamai Connected Cloud (Linode) review
A focused cloud VM service for teams that want shared-CPU instances and Docker Quick Deploy.

Akamai Connected Cloud, formerly Linode, provides cloud virtual machines and related infrastructure managed through Cloud Manager. Its Shared CPU instances are suited to developers and organizations running websites, development or staging servers, databases, and container-cluster worker nodes. The service spans solo users through enterprise organizations, though its shared-CPU offering and core VM focus are especially relevant to smaller teams seeking configurable virtual servers rather than a wide infrastructure suite.
Docker is a notable part of the deployment path: a Quick Deploy option installs Docker on a Compute Instance, with a supported Ubuntu distribution selected for deployment. SSH keys and limited-sudo users can also be configured for this deployment. Alternatively, Docker can be installed and managed by users themselves. Root access is available, though it can be disabled over SSH during Docker deployment; it remains available through Lish or after login. This combination suits teams wanting a ready Docker starting point while retaining control of the instance, but buyers needing a broader container management feature set should compare more specialized services.
Cloud Manager provides a web interface for infrastructure, account, billing, and support-ticket management, while the Linode API lets teams create and manage cloud resources programmatically. That web-and-API combination supports both direct administration and integration into existing workflows. Support is available around the clock, alongside ticket, community, and documentation channels. Plans are paid, and availability and pricing vary by region. Choose Akamai Connected Cloud for configurable VMs, a straightforward Docker deployment option, and API access; look elsewhere if your priority is a broader cloud infrastructure feature set or a container platform beyond instance-level deployment.
