Our verdict on AITalk

AITalk is AI, Inc.’s speech-synthesis product family for converting Japanese text into spoken audio. It serves organizations creating e-learning and video narration, telephone and facility announcements, accessibility experiences, and embedded voice interfaces. The family spans Windows narration software, browser-based cloud creation, REST WebAPI services, and SDK or server components for integrating speech into applications and devices. Deployment options cover cloud and desktop use, with access paths listed for web, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android and API environments.

The paid lineup has three plan types. The 1-year license and perpetual license provide Windows desktop narration software with two included speakers, Emiri and Hideto. Cloud basic monthly is browser-based and uses a Japanese two-speaker base plan. These options separate locally installed narration work from browser workflows, while the API and SDK components support teams embedding synthesis into products. A free plan is not part of the lineup, so buyers should select a commercial tier based on whether they need desktop authoring, recurring cloud access or application integration.

AITalk’s main strength is control over Japanese speech output. Users can export WAV audio at multiple sample rates in PCM or μ-law formats, adjust intonation, pitch, speed, volume and pauses, and apply emotion expression where supported speakers allow it. Custom pronunciation and terminology dictionaries help address specialized vocabulary, while AITalk CustomVoice supports custom or original voice dictionaries. The focus is narrower than multilingual platforms because Japanese is the listed language. Organizations needing Japanese voice production, programmable synthesis or embedded speech should find the feature set aligned; teams requiring broad language coverage or a no-cost starting tier should consider alternatives.
