AIMP is a free audio player for Windows, Linux and Android, aimed at solo listeners and small teams that want more than basic track playback. Its focus is music management and audio control: it supports a broad range of formats, playlists, playback queues, bookmarks, internet radio, network shared folders and WebDAV cloud storage. The product also includes a music library, smart playlists, tag editing, audio conversion and plugin support. AIMP is not a general media player because the vendor states that it cannot play video files and extracts only audio from MP4 files.

The feature depth is strongest around playback control and library organization. A 20-band equalizer, sound effects, ReplayGain and volume normalization give listeners several ways to shape and balance audio. Internet radio playback and stream capture extend it beyond local files, while integrations with OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, WebDAV, Last.fm, Libre.fm, ListenBrainz and Android Auto broaden its fit across storage, discovery and in-car listening. Format coverage includes common choices such as MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC and OPUS alongside less typical formats including APE, DSF, DFF, TAK and MPEG-DASH.

AIMP is available without a paid tier, so there is no plan comparison or upgrade path to weigh. The vendor identifies email and community support channels, and the product has been established since 2006. Windows is the clearest desktop fit; Linux support is available through Wine in the stable desktop download and natively in the AIMP 6 beta, while Android provides the mobile option. Choose AIMP if free audio playback, DSP controls, library features and format breadth matter most. Choose another product if video playback, subtitle support or 4K video playback is central to the requirement.
