Agent Ransack is a Windows desktop search utility from Mythicsoft Ltd for people who need more than filename matching. It searches file names and contents across PCs, removable locations and mapped or UNC network drives. Its coverage includes Office documents, PDFs, Outlook PST and MSG files, compressed archives, and scanned images through OCR. Boolean queries and Perl-compatible regular expressions suit users who need precise searches, while previews, reports, printing and export help with reviewing results. The free Lite mode supports personal or commercial use, making the product relevant to individual users and teams that primarily need local or network content search on Windows.

Pricing is structured around free access and one-time paid licenses. The Lite plan is available for personal or commercial use and includes no support. The Standard License costs $79 one-time, provides a perpetual license, and allows up to 3 Windows installations per licensed named user. The Technician License costs $142 one-time and allows unlimited Windows installations per named user. The Floating License costs $206 one-time and covers a licensed number of concurrent users. A 30-day free trial is also offered. Optional Professional features add indexing, OCR, advanced reporting, programmability and other capabilities, while the paid licenses remain perpetual purchases.

Agent Ransack stands out for the breadth of content it can search within a desktop utility. Outlook email, contacts, appointments and attachments are included alongside Office, OpenOffice, Visual Studio, ZIP, JAR, 7Z, RAR and TAR content. Optional indexes can speed searches, and command-line operation plus .NET/COM libraries make it suitable for automation or integration into Windows workflows. Choose it if deep Windows file and content search, network-drive access, OCR and email search matter. Look elsewhere if you need a non-Windows desktop search tool or prefer a supported free plan.
