Our verdict on Affinity
Affinity is an on-premises legal practice management system from Dye & Durham, designed for mid-tier and established law firms. It brings together matter management, contacts, financials, key dates, document storage, versioning, full-text search, scheduling, time recording, billing, legal workflows, due-diligence searches, precedents, reporting and CRM capabilities. A configurable client portal supports secure document exchange, while multi-entity analytics and configurable security extend its fit for firms with more involved operating structures.
The product’s strongest differentiator is its breadth across legal work and Microsoft-centered processes. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Exchange integrations support familiar office workflows, while PEXA, Lexis+, Lexis+ AI, Xero, iManage, NetDocuments, FeeSynergy and Macquarie Bank connect Affinity with legal, document-management, accounting and payment-related services. Automated drafting, searches and legal documents add depth for practices managing repeatable work, and billable time recording, flexible billing, eBilling and collections cover core financial processes.
Affinity follows a contact-sales pricing model, so firms evaluate the system through a tailored commercial discussion rather than selecting from published tiers. That approach fits established practices with complex requirements and the resources to assess configuration, integrations and multi-entity reporting together. Smaller firms or teams seeking a lightweight cloud service may find the self-hosted model and wide feature set less suitable. Affinity is the stronger choice for firms prioritizing document control, workflow automation and Microsoft or legal-system connectivity in a single environment.
