Advent Prompt Pwn review
Deep automated testing for prompt injection, RAG, multi-turn, and tool-use risks.

Advent Prompt Pwn is an open-source Python toolkit for authorized adversarial testing of language models and AI applications. It is aimed at security practitioners who need controlled assessments across local applications, HTTP JSON endpoints, model-provider interfaces, and custom Python or in-memory applications. The toolkit runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and its Apache-2.0 license supports self-hosted use.
Its main strength is the depth of its attack workflow. Composable strategies cover direct prompt injection, instruction override, delimiter and encoding attacks, role confusion, indirect documents and fixtures, multi-turn testing, mutation, RAG poisoning, and synthetic tool use. Adaptive prompt mutation and minimization can help refine cases, while deterministic or calibrated adversarial oracles provide defined evaluation behavior. Scope controls cover hosts, ports, DNS, authorization windows, and workload limits, which suits assessments that must stay within explicit boundaries.
Advent Prompt Pwn also fits varied AI environments. Integrations include OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenAI-compatible APIs, Ollama, custom HTTP JSON applications, Python callbacks, and in-memory applications. Resumable HMAC-authenticated checkpoints support interrupted assessment runs, and regression comparison allows baseline and current reports to be reviewed together. Evidence bundles include checksums and offline verification, while report exports include JSON, JSONL, Markdown, HTML, JUnit, and SARIF. Choose it when reproducible, automated red-team testing and evidence handling matter. Choose another tool if the priority is continuous monitoring or a less technical evaluation workflow.
Advent Prompt Pwn pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Tests direct, indirect, multi-turn, RAG, and synthetic tool-use attacks
- Supports resumable checkpoints, regression comparison, and evidence verification
- Exports JSON, JSONL, Markdown, HTML, JUnit, and SARIF reports
- Where it doesn't
- Self-hosted deployment requires technical setup and scope management
- No continuous monitoring capability is provided
- Designed for authorized security assessments rather than general AI evaluation
