Advection.NET Cloud VDN is a cloud video delivery network for organizations distributing live and on-demand video. It combines geographically distributed delivery, redundant media storage, live event management through CloudSat, embeddable players, DRM, reporting, APIs, and paid-media tools. Its documented use cases include video stores, membership services, user-generated-content sites, and larger streaming projects, making it a fit for media businesses that need more than basic video hosting.
The published plans show five monthly tiers. Startup costs $69 per month with 200 GB delivery and a 20 GB library. Small Biz is $299 per month for 1 TB delivery and 100 GB storage, while Corporate is $1,299 per month for 5 TB delivery and 500 GB storage. Media costs $4,795 per month and adds a private origin, mezzanine workflow, 20 TB delivery, and 2 TB storage. Studio costs $9,995 per month and adds multi-CDN distribution, reporting aggregation, 50 TB delivery, and 5 TB storage. The plans are paid and month-to-month, with no free plan.
Its strongest differentiator is the combination of delivery infrastructure and monetization. Memberships, pay-per-minute access, geo-targeting, DRM licensing rules, playlists, usage statistics, and account-management APIs support commercial video operations. Platform coverage includes web, API, iOS, Windows, and macOS, while integrations include Apple HTTP Adaptive Streaming, RTMP, H.264, WebM, and Ogg Theora. However, the documented maximum resolution is 720p, and the inclusion of Silverlight, Flash, Windows Media, and IIS Media Services points to an older technology mix. Choose Advection.NET Cloud VDN when paid video, DRM, and legacy media compatibility matter more than modern resolution targets or a lightweight setup; otherwise, a newer, narrower video CDN may fit better.
