Our verdict on Adobe After Effects
Adobe After Effects is desktop software for motion design, compositing, animation, and visual effects. It is aimed at motion designers, video editors, filmmakers, and visual-effects artists who need animated titles, 2D and 3D compositions, tracking, keying, rotoscoping, content-aware removal, particle effects, and expressions in one application. It supports Windows and macOS and works as part of the Adobe Creative Cloud ecosystem.
The published plans show several ways to fit After Effects into an Adobe setup. The After Effects plan includes the desktop application, 100GB of cloud storage, and 25 monthly generative credits. Creative Cloud Pro adds After Effects plus 20 or more apps, the same 100GB storage allocation, and 400 monthly generative credits. Team plans add business license management, while Creative Cloud Pro for teams includes the Admin Console, centralized IT deployment tools, and 24x7 dedicated technical support. A 7-day free trial is available, but there is no free plan.
Its strongest fit is for projects that benefit from Adobe integration and a wide range of compositing and motion-graphics tools. Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Stock, and InDesign are listed integrations, while Motion Graphics templates support Premiere workflows. The feature set is broad rather than narrowly focused: it includes object and camera tracking, chroma keying, matte generation, Roto Brush, Object Matte, Content-Aware Fill for video, particle and simulation effects, and hybrid rendering. Choose After Effects for mainstream motion graphics and VFX work across Adobe applications; choose an alternative if node-based compositing or a free plan is essential.
