Admiral review
A free macOS workspace for coordinating AI coding agents, Git, terminals, and pull requests.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
Admiral is a native macOS developer workspace for people who want AI coding assistants, project organization, and development tools in one application. It supports Claude Code and Codex through a unified agent layer, with parallel chats, per-chat model selection, subagents, automated flows, and approval controls for file edits and terminal actions. Developers can also browse files, make lightweight code edits, inspect diffs, and manage project workspaces from the same interface.
Its strongest area is branch-scoped work. Chats, terminals, pull requests, and worktrees can be organized around a branch, while the built-in terminal supports multiple sessions and ANSI output. Git features cover staging, commits, push, diffs, branch management, and worktrees. The issue planner adds checklists, priorities, labels, milestones, and workspace links. For multi-step tasks, flows can assign Coordinator, Implementer, and Reviewer roles and apply quality gates. GitHub integration supports pull-request creation and linking, including AI-generated commit messages and pull-request descriptions.
Admiral is free to download, with no paid tiers described in its published plans. Project data is stored locally, and the app connects to configured AI providers. Permission approval panels give developers control over file edits, terminal commands, and other agent actions. The main fit constraint is platform coverage: Admiral is intended for macOS, and version 2.0.0 requires macOS 15.0 or later. It also does not provide verified extensions support. Choose Admiral if you work on a compatible Mac and want branch-centered agent workflows with GitHub and Git built in; choose another editor if cross-platform access or an extensions ecosystem is essential.
