Active@ Hard Disk Monitor is a Windows desktop utility for monitoring hard-disk health and performance. It reads S.M.A.R.T. data, scans disks for bad sectors, records temperature history, displays detailed disk information, and can send email or pop-up notifications when critical conditions occur. It is aimed at personal users who want ongoing visibility into local disks, as well as businesses that need monitoring across Windows computers.

The freeware plan covers personal use and includes disk health and S.M.A.R.T. monitoring. Its feature set also includes background monitoring from Windows startup, a system-tray temperature display, event logs, S.M.A.R.T. reports, temperature history graphs, and bad-sector scanning. The Professional plan is for business purposes and adds remote administration and monitoring for up to 3 PCs, enterprise licensing, and extended temperature history. This makes the product more suitable for established Windows environments than for mixed-platform teams.

For local monitoring, the combination of SMART data, health checks, temperature records, notifications, and event history provides a focused set of disk-health tools in one Windows application. Professional extends that focus to remote administration and monitoring on a local or global network. Choose Active@ Hard Disk Monitor if Windows support and disk-level visibility are the priority, especially when a freeware personal-use plan is sufficient or remote monitoring for up to 3 PCs fits the business need. Choose an alternative if your environment requires platforms beyond Windows or broader integration coverage.
