Actian Data Observability monitors data quality and pipeline health for data teams, with a focus on assets in cloud warehouses, databases, and lake storage. It tracks freshness, volume, distribution, and schema changes, then helps teams investigate incidents and inspect lineage to understand possible causes and downstream impact. Mid-market and enterprise teams seeking warehouse-native monitoring are the clearest fit, particularly when they want to define checks beyond the prebuilt monitors.

The monitoring toolkit includes prebuilt checks for record count and freshness, as well as related-table count correlation drift. Teams can also create custom metric and SQL-based monitors. An incident portal brings alert history and incident status together, while asset lineage provides context for tracing affected data flows. Processing is zero-copy within a data lakehouse or warehouse. This combination favors teams that need both recurring checks and an investigation path when results deviate; the product is less suited to teams looking only for a narrow freshness alert.

Actian offers cloud and self-hosted deployment, including public SaaS or deployment in a customer’s VPC. An API supports configuring connections and assets, triggering scans, and retrieving results. Notifications can go through Microsoft Teams, Slack, webhooks, and email, with Jira also listed among integrations. Support channels include email, phone, and documentation, and SSO SAML is listed. According to the vendor’s pricing page, pricing is quote-based rather than published as a set amount. Teams comfortable discussing pricing with sales and working with SQL-defined checks may find a good fit; buyers who need a listed price or a simple, narrow monitoring tool should consider alternatives.
