Acquia Front End Hosting is a managed cloud service for JavaScript frontends, including Next.js applications. It is aimed at organizations that already use Acquia Cloud Platform and need to run a Next.js frontend alongside Drupal. The Advanced offering supports server-side rendering and incremental static regeneration through a Node.js production server, with web and API platform support. This makes it a focused option for enterprise teams whose content platform and frontend architecture already align with Acquia’s ecosystem.

Its strongest fit is the connection between frontend hosting and Acquia’s surrounding services. Platform CDN provides CDN integration, while shared filesystem support is designed for Next.js ISR. Teams can connect deployments through Acquia Code Studio or external CI/CD pipelines, and the service integrates with New Relic. Development, staging, and production environments support a structured release path. Automated cache clearing after deployment and real-time and historical environment log monitoring add operational controls for teams managing multiple environments.

The trade-off is its commercial and ecosystem model. Front End Hosting - Advanced is a paid add-on to an existing Acquia Cloud Platform subscription, and the pricing model is contact sales rather than a self-serve plan. There is no free plan. Teams already committed to Acquia and Drupal should consider it when they need managed Next.js SSR, ISR, autoscaling based on traffic, and integrated delivery and monitoring. Teams seeking an independent hosting service, a standalone purchase, or a simpler self-serve path should choose an alternative instead.
