Our verdict on A-PDF Restrictions Remover
A-PDF Restrictions Remover is a Windows desktop utility for removing standard password and permission restrictions from PDF files. It is aimed at users who need to restore copying, printing, or editing access on restricted documents rather than create or manage PDFs from end to end. The tool supports 40-bit RC4, 128-bit RC4, and 128-bit AES encryption, giving it a specific role for files protected with these encryption types.
Pricing is straightforward: the product costs $9.99 as a one-time purchase and includes a 15-day trial. The published plan provides the restriction-removal features, Windows Explorer context-menu operation, and a “Remove Restrictions & Save as...” workflow. Users can also save output to a different default directory and preserve the original restricted file with a .BAK extension, which suits workflows where the source document should remain available.
Its main limitation is scope. A-PDF Restrictions Remover is not a broad PDF editing suite: the listed category capabilities do not include annotation tools or form creation, and the product is focused on removing standard restrictions. It does not remove DRM or automatically find an open password. The context-menu feature does not work on 64-bit Windows, while the vendor lists legacy Windows requirements including Windows 98, NT4, Me, 2000, XP, and 7. Choose it when restriction removal is the specific task; choose a broader PDF editor when you need document creation, annotations, forms, or wider PDF workflows.
