Our verdict on 72FM
72FM is a browser-based directory and player for publicly broadcast internet radio, aimed at listeners who want to find stations by place, style, language or mood. Its directory includes more than 30,000 stations from over 200 countries, and listeners can start without installing an app or creating an account. Search by station name is available alongside the browsing filters, making the service useful for people who already know what they want as well as those exploring. The free account supports synced favorites, with up to 10 saved stations, and includes one hour of listening daily.
The free tier is a practical way to browse and listen, while Premium removes the daily listening limit and adds playlists and unlimited favorites. According to the published plans, Premium costs £4.99 for 30 days or £29 for 365 days, each as a one-time payment. Both plans include unlimited listening, playlists, unlimited favorites, every sleep-timer length, history of 100 plays and priority support. Free accounts have listening history of 20 plays and a 30-minute sleep timer. This structure suits occasional listeners who can work within the free limits, while frequent listeners may value the longer paid access period and expanded controls.
72FM focuses on live streams in a browser rather than offline playback: stations are sourced from the open Radio Browser database and streams come from broadcasters. The listing describes browser access, including mobile browsers, rather than a native app experience, and live streaming means stations cannot be saved for offline listening. Support is by email, and paid plans include priority support; purchases have a 7-day refund period. Choose 72FM if you want a large searchable radio directory and are comfortable listening online. Look elsewhere if offline listening or a native app is central to how you want to listen.
