1099-Prep is a cloud-based web platform for businesses, accountants, and other organizations preparing IRS information returns. It supports federal and selected state filing for forms including 1099, W-2, 1042, and ACA-related forms. Its validation, correction, and rejected-form resubmission tools suit teams handling recurring filing workloads, while bulk Excel import and export can help with larger batches. Collaborative workflows, customer management, and user permissions also make it relevant to organizations that share filing responsibilities.
Pricing is per form and billed annually. Federal e-filing costs $5 per form for 1–24 forms, $4.75 for 25–99, $4.50 for 100–249, $3.50 for 250–499, $3 for 500–999, and $2 for 1,000 or more. The separate listed rates are $8 per 1042 form and $10 per state reconciliation form. Recipient delivery by USPS mail or secure email is supported, but no delivery price is included here. This volume-based structure favors higher-volume filers; occasional filers should compare the per-form starting rate with their expected workload.
The feature set extends beyond submission: TIN matching, address validation, 1096/W-3 summaries, audit trails, two-factor authentication, and access to up to five years of filing history support review and recordkeeping. Support is through email and documentation. The product is web-only, so teams seeking a named integration or another platform should look elsewhere. 1099-Prep fits organizations that value bulk workflows and lower federal per-form rates at higher volumes; those filing only a few returns or requiring a specified integration may prefer an alternative.
