There is no single monthly electricity cost for using PRISM Live Studio to stream to YouTube in India. PRISM is software; the phone or computer running it uses the electricity. To estimate the added cost, measure that setup’s average wall power, multiply by your monthly streaming hours, and apply your own electricity tariff.
How to calculate your monthly cost
Use these two steps:
- Monthly energy (kWh) = average wall draw (W) × total streaming hours in the month ÷ 1,000.
- Estimated added energy charge = monthly energy (kWh) × applicable marginal energy charge (₹/kWh).
For a regular schedule, calculate energy as average watts × hours streamed per day × streaming days in the month ÷ 1,000. Use your actual schedule rather than assuming a 30-day month if you stream less often.
This estimates the added energy charge, not the entire electricity bill. Fixed charges, duties, adjustments and subsidy effects can also affect what you pay. Your bill or your electricity distribution company’s (DISCOM’s) tariff schedule is the relevant source for your rate.

A computer power supply’s rated wattage is its capacity, not the computer’s measured consumption while streaming. PRISM’s documentation notes that scenes, sources, encoder settings, resolution and frame rate affect system load, but it does not publish a universal electricity wattage for a streaming session. There is therefore no substantiated PRISM-specific wattage to plug into a one-size-fits-all cost estimate.

In general, you need to set the overload power to 1800W before using. Just press the "function" button for more than 3 seconds to enter the setting
- Data Memory Function: The wattage meter will record your power consumption data when you remove it from socket, or remove appliances from the electricity monitor. You can directly see the last data when you use it next time. This function can also automatically save the data when there is a sudden power failure
For a practical reading, use a plug-in electricity usage meter that displays cumulative kWh. Measure the complete setup you intend to use, including the computer or phone’s charging arrangement and any display or peripherals powered from the wall. Record the energy over a representative streaming session, then divide the kWh reading by the session hours to estimate average wall draw. No particular meter model is endorsed here.
A phone’s battery percentage drop is not equivalent to wall-meter kWh: charging and conversion losses vary. To compare a phone and computer fairly, measure each setup’s wall energy over comparable streaming sessions and apply the same hours and tariff assumptions.

Why the Indian tariff depends on your location
Retail electricity tariffs are set by the appropriate State Electricity Regulatory Commission, and state governments may subsidize some consumer classes, according to the Ministry of Power’s August 10, 2026 release (Ministry of Power). Your tariff category and the extra units added to your household’s consumption can affect the applicable energy charge. The Central Electricity Authority’s tariff and duty publication compiles state and utility schedules, with a March 2026 edition identified on its tariff and duty page.

One geographically limited example illustrates why a national estimate would mislead. The Department of Electricity, Union Territory of Lakshadweep, lists these FY 2026–27 LTDS-II Domestic Service energy charges:

The same Lakshadweep schedule lists a fixed charge of ₹25 per kW per month. These are Lakshadweep figures, not an India-wide rate; check the applicable category and schedule for your own DISCOM before calculating your added energy charge (Department of Electricity, Lakshadweep).
Phone or computer: compare measured energy
Neither option can be declared cheaper from the device type alone. Compare the actual wall energy used by your phone-based or computer-based workflow during the planned streaming hours, then multiply by the tariff applicable to the extra units. The PRISM mobile guide supports streaming to platforms including YouTube and lists Android 10 and iOS 16 as minimum operating-system versions; requirements may change, so consult PRISM’s mobile getting-started guide. For desktop use, its performance guidance discusses hardware and the settings that affect system load, but does not establish a typical electricity draw.
