To monitor prices, track the exact product listing with a service that covers its retailer and country, enable alerts, and check the listing again when notified. Pair alerts with a price-history chart: the alert tells you a watched price changed; the chart helps you judge whether the drop is notable. Before buying, verify the live price, seller, shipping, product variant, and availability on the retailer’s site.
Choose a price tracker for the store and country you use
Built-in shopping features can be simplest when they cover the product you want. Dedicated trackers focus on Amazon listings and offer charts or watches. Availability and features vary by country, device, app, and browser, so check each service’s current listing before relying on it.
| Option | What it offers | Setup and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Google Shopping price tracking | Save eligible products, optionally set a target price, and receive push notifications and email when the target is reached. | Requires a signed-in Google Account and notifications enabled. Google lists the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and India; features vary by device and Google surface. Google’s price-tracking help. |
| Amazon price history | Shows price-history windows of 30, 90, and 365 days, accessible from product pages or the shopping assistant. | Amazon lists the US, UK, Canada, and India for price history; it says 365-day insights are rolling out in the US, UK, and India. The documentation establishes history access, not an automatic target-price alert for every user. Amazon’s price-history guide. |
| Keepa | Its Chrome Web Store listing describes price-history charts, price-drop and availability alerts, international comparison, and support for multiple Amazon marketplaces. Tracking can start without an account. | It is a browser extension; review the current listing and permissions before installation. The listing identifies access involving Keepa and Amazon domains, cookies, and storage. Keepa’s Chrome Web Store listing. |
| camelcamelcamel / Camelizer | Documents Amazon price watches with email alerts, price-history charts, Amazon/New/Used price types, RSS feeds, and a browser extension. Registration is optional. | Supports several Amazon locales; availability and features may change. Its provider advises checking price and availability on Amazon before purchase. camelcamelcamel’s feature page. |
These services describe different scopes, not a single universal tracker. Google’s tool applies to products surfaced in its shopping experience; Amazon’s history is part of its shopping experience; Keepa and camelcamelcamel focus on Amazon. No independent speed or accuracy comparison is established here, so choose based on retailer coverage, market, alert method, and the history view you need.
How to set up a price alert
- Open the exact product listing. Confirm the variant, such as size, color, capacity, or bundle. Similar listings may have separate prices and histories.
- Pick a service that covers that listing and market. Use a built-in shopping feature if available; for Amazon products, compare the dedicated trackers’ supported locale and setup requirements.
- Save or track the product. If the service allows a target price, choose one that fits your budget. A threshold is a notification condition, not a forecast that the price will reach it.
- Enable the right notifications. Google requires a signed-in account and notifications enabled for its alerts. camelcamelcamel documents email alerts and makes registration optional. Confirm that the item appears in the service’s saved or watch list.
- Recheck the retailer when alerted. Open the listing and verify price, seller, shipping, variant, and stock before purchasing.
How to interpret a price history
Use the chart’s stated time window and price type to understand what it actually compares. Amazon documents 30-, 90-, and 365-day history windows; a 365-day view may not yet be available in every listed market. camelcamelcamel distinguishes Amazon, new, and used prices. A short-term dip may look different over a longer chart, and a used-item series is not directly comparable to a new listing.

A chart gives context, not proof that a sale is unusually good or that a price was deceptive. An alert reflects the service’s tracked data and your settings; it does not prove that the item is cheapest across sellers or that the offer will remain available. Google notes that prices are dynamic, and camelcamelcamel recommends checking Amazon’s live offer.
Geography, device support, and privacy checks
- Google: Its help page lists the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and India, and cautions that availability can vary across devices and Google surfaces.
- Amazon: Its article lists the US, UK, Canada, and India for price history; 365-day insights are rolling out in the US, UK, and India.
- Browser extensions: Check the current store listing for permissions and privacy disclosures before installing. A permission list is not a complete privacy audit.
- Changing features: Service coverage, interfaces, and supported marketplaces can change. Revisit the provider’s current help or listing if a feature is missing.
Common problems and fixes
No notification arrives
Check that the product is still in your watch list, the target price is set as intended, and email or push notifications are enabled. For Google tracking, verify you are signed in to the right Google Account and that notifications are enabled. For email alerts, check spam and confirm the address or account settings.

The alert price does not match checkout
Return to the retailer listing and compare the seller, variant, shipping, and stock status. The tracker’s displayed data is a prompt to verify the offer, not a guaranteed checkout price.
The product or history is unavailable
The service may not cover that retailer, locale, device, or product listing. Try the retailer’s built-in history or a tracker that supports the relevant Amazon marketplace, and confirm you are monitoring the correct variant.
