A Polymarket trade marked as matched—or shown as “filled”—has not necessarily completed on-chain. In Polymarket’s documented lifecycle, MATCHED means the trade was matched and sent to an executor for on-chain submission; CONFIRMED is the documented successful final state. Check the lifecycle status rather than treating a fill label alone as proof of settlement.
Does matched mean your Polymarket trade settled?
No. A match is an execution event: the platform has matched the trade and sent it for on-chain submission. That is distinct from the transaction reaching the platform’s successful final state. Polymarket’s trade lifecycle documentation distinguishes these stages.
The word “filled” can describe an order or match in a user-facing view, but without the underlying lifecycle status and transaction evidence it does not establish that settlement is final. The exact display and reconciliation steps may vary; the documentation cited here does not establish a single UI workflow for every account or wallet.

| Status | What it indicates | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
MATCHED |
The trade was matched and sent to the executor for on-chain submission. | Matched, but not yet documented as a successful final settlement. |
MINED |
The transaction has been observed in a block. | On-chain progress, not final confirmation. The lifecycle documentation does not establish a finality threshold for this state. |
CONFIRMED |
The trade achieved successful finality. | The clearest documented indication that the trade completed successfully. |
RETRYING |
A failed or reverted transaction is being retried or resubmitted. | Still in progress; not a confirmed success. |
FAILED |
The trade failed permanently and will not be retried. | Not a successful settlement. |
What does confirmed mean on Polymarket?
CONFIRMED is the successful final state described in the lifecycle documentation. It is different from MATCHED, which records a match sent for submission, and MINED, which records that a transaction was seen in a block without the documented finality threshold having been reached.
#1 Best Overall
If the status is RETRYING, the transaction has not yet reached the successful final state. If it is FAILED, the documentation says it will not be retried. These definitions describe the platform lifecycle; they do not guarantee that every account view exposes the same fields or provide a universal wallet-specific recovery procedure.
Trade settlement is not market resolution
Trade settlement and market resolution answer different questions. Settlement concerns whether a particular trade completed successfully through the transaction lifecycle. Resolution determines the winning outcome for an event market and the payout for shares associated with that outcome.
Rank #2
Polymarket’s overview of how the platform works describes outcome shares priced from 0.00 to 1.00 USDC and says shares for the correct final outcome pay 1.00 USDC each upon resolution. Those payout terms do not show whether a particular trade has advanced from MATCHED or MINED to CONFIRMED.

How to verify a reported fill
- Find the underlying trade status. Do not rely on an order acknowledgment or the word “filled” by itself.
- Read the state literally.
MATCHEDmeans matched and submitted for processing;MINEDmeans observed on-chain but not documented as final;CONFIRMEDmeans successful finality. - Treat retry and failure states differently.
RETRYINGis an unresolved retry, whileFAILEDis a permanent failure according to the lifecycle definition. - Keep market outcome separate. A later resolution and payout concern which shares win, not whether an earlier trade status was already final.
The lifecycle definitions are the reliable distinction available here. The cited documentation does not establish an exact current UI path, nor account-specific reconciliation indicators, so do not infer those details from the status names alone.
