These are manufacturer-published specifications, not results from a head-to-head test. Motorola’s support page for EMEA lists 8GB RAM, while its UK FAQ lists 12GB. Confirm the RAM configuration for the exact model sold in your market before comparing prices.

Which phone has the better battery and charging?
POCO leads on stated battery capacity and wired charging: its typical battery rating is 8,500mAh and it supports 100W HyperCharge. Motorola lists a 7,100mAh battery and 90W wired charging, but adds 25W magnetic Qi2 wireless charging. POCO also lists up to 27W wired reverse charging.

Those figures do not establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use or which reaches a full charge sooner. Motorola states up to 73 hours of battery life for the Edge 70 Max on its EMEA page; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independently verified result or a directly comparable test against the POCO.
How do the displays compare?
The screens are nearly the same size: 6.83 inches on POCO and 6.82 inches on Motorola. Motorola’s listed Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 × 3168 is higher than POCO’s 1.5K resolution of 2772 × 1280. POCO specifies a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, while the Motorola pages cited here do not state a refresh rate.
Resolution alone cannot establish which screen looks better. Panel tuning, brightness, viewing conditions, and content also affect what a user sees; the cited specifications do not provide a direct display-quality comparison.

Performance, memory, and storage
POCO names the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s, built on a 3nm process, and offers 12GB RAM with either 256GB or 512GB storage. Its listed memory and storage standards are LPDDR5X and UFS 4.1. Motorola lists a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor and 256GB UFS 4.1 storage.
The Motorola RAM discrepancy matters when comparing configurations: the EMEA support page specifies 8GB LPDDR5X, but the UK FAQ says 12GB. The sources do not resolve whether this reflects different regional SKUs or inconsistent listings. Check the seller’s model number and written specification rather than assuming every Edge 70 Max has the same RAM.
Camera hardware and photo quality
POCO lists a 50MP Light Fusion 600 main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 20MP front camera. Motorola’s UK FAQ names a 50MP main camera, but the official sources cited here do not provide enough matching camera details for a complete hardware comparison.

Megapixel counts do not show which phone takes better photos. Sensor and lens behavior, processing, stabilization, and performance in different lighting conditions all matter. The available specifications do not include independent head-to-head image testing, so they cannot support a photo-quality winner.

Durability and practical extras
POCO lists an IP68 rating and says a protective case is included in the global package, with a warning that box contents may vary by region. Xiaomi cautions that its water-resistance result applies under defined laboratory conditions and that resistance is not assured outside those conditions or after wear or damage.
Motorola’s UK FAQ lists IP68/IP69 resistance. These ratings describe testing under specified conditions; neither should be read as a promise that a phone cannot be damaged by water, dust, or everyday wear. Motorola also supports magnetic Qi2 wireless charging, which POCO’s listed charging specifications do not include.

Price difference: what the published launch prices show
The available figures are launch-price reports from Spain, published months apart—not current quotes or a like-for-like price comparison. Cinco Días, part of El País, reported on March 17, 2026 that the POCO X8 Pro Max launched at €529.99 for 12GB/256GB and €579.99 for 12GB/512GB. The same publication reported on July 15, 2026 a €699 launch price for the Motorola Edge 70 Max with 8GB/256GB.

Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the POCO on published specifications if a larger stated battery, faster wired charging, a 512GB option, or the included case is more important to you.
- Consider the Motorola if you want the higher listed screen resolution or magnetic Qi2 wireless charging.
- Compare the exact local models before buying if RAM, network compatibility, warranty, or current price will decide the purchase. The official Motorola sources disagree on RAM, and regional network bands are not established by the comparison figures above.
Neither set of specifications settles overall performance, real-world battery life, display quality, or camera results. A universal winner cannot be justified without comparable testing and current prices in the buyer’s market.
