The POCO X8 Pro Max is the larger, higher-tier phone on paper: it lists a newer chipset, a bigger display and battery, and 100W charging instead of the X7 Pro’s 90W. The X7 Pro is the smaller option and may cost less. Xiaomi France’s store displayed starting prices of €479 for the X8 Pro Max and €373 for the X7 Pro 5G—a €106 gap—but those prices are France-specific and may not represent matching storage or promotions.
What is different between the POCO X7 Pro and X8 Pro Max?
The clearest differences are size, listed chipset, battery capacity and charging rate. The camera headline resolutions are similar, and both listed displays support refresh rates up to 120Hz. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.

The Xiaomi France POCO store displayed the X8 Pro Max from €479 and the X7 Pro 5G from €373, a €106 difference by subtraction. This is a France listing-time comparison surfaced in 2026, not a confirmed like-for-like price: the storage configurations, discounts and stock may differ. Which phone has the better performance and display?
Chipset: the X8 Pro Max has the higher-tier listed platform
POCO lists the X8 Pro Max with a 3nm Dimensity 9500s running at up to 3.73GHz, compared with the X7 Pro’s 4nm Dimensity 8400-Ultra at up to 3.25GHz. That makes the X8 Pro Max the stronger-looking choice from specifications alone, but those figures do not establish how much faster it feels in apps or games. POCO reports an AnTuTu V11 score of 3,085,998 for the X8 Pro Max from its Internal Labs at around 25°C and says actual results may vary. It is a vendor-reported test, not an independent head-to-head comparison with the X7 Pro. (POCO X8 Pro Max specifications and test note)
Display: both reach 120Hz, while the Max is larger
The X8 Pro Max’s listed panel is 6.83 inches with 2772 × 1280 pixels; the X7 Pro is 6.67 inches with 2712 × 1220 pixels. Both are 1.5K-class AMOLED screens with refresh rates up to 120Hz. The Max gives more screen area, while the X7 Pro’s smaller dimensions may suit buyers who prefer a more compact phone. The specification figures alone cannot establish which screen looks better in person.

Does the X8 Pro Max have better battery life?
POCO lists an 8500mAh typical battery and 100W HyperCharge for the X8 Pro Max, versus 6000mAh and 90W HyperCharge for the X7 Pro. The Max therefore has the larger stated capacity and higher rated charging wattage. Capacity does not prove longer real-world battery life: usage, software, connectivity, screen settings and regional battery configuration can affect endurance. The cited specifications do not provide a comparable battery-life test.
Are the cameras better on the X8 Pro Max?
The listed rear-camera configurations share the same headline resolutions: a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization and an 8MP ultra-wide. POCO identifies the X8 Pro Max main sensor as Light Fusion 600. Resolution and stabilization details do not establish which phone takes better photos or video; the available specifications do not include independent, side-by-side camera tests.

What should you check before buying in your country?
- Exact model and storage: Compare the same storage tier and local variant; the displayed France starting prices do not establish a matched configuration.
- Charger in the box: The cited UK X8 Pro Max page says no power adapter is included and recommends a Xiaomi adapter rated at 100W or higher. The cited Mexico X7 Pro page describes a 90W USB-C charger included. These are market-specific package details, not universal rules. POCO’s global X8 Pro Max page also advises checking local adapter availability.
- Networks and eSIM: Check supported bands and carrier compatibility for your country. POCO says the X8 Pro Max supports eSIM, but availability depends on country or region and carrier. (POCO X8 Pro Max global page)
- Warranty, taxes and stock: Confirm these with the local seller, since the cited specifications and France store price do not settle local purchase terms.
- Water resistance: POCO lists IP68 for the X8 Pro Max based on specific laboratory conditions. The manufacturer cautions that this is not a guarantee for ordinary use and that resistance may decline through wear or damage; do not treat the rating as a reason to test the phone in water. (POCO IP68 limitations)
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the X8 Pro Max if you want the larger display and battery, the higher-tier chipset listed by POCO, or the faster rated charging—and its size and local price work for you.
- Choose the X7 Pro if you prefer a smaller, lighter phone or find it meaningfully cheaper in your market. Its listed camera resolutions and maximum display refresh rate are close to the Max’s headline figures.
The extra cost is easiest to justify when the Max’s larger screen and battery, newer listed platform or 100W charging matter to you. The specifications do not establish a real-world performance, endurance or camera advantage of a particular size, and the €106 France price gap is not a universal or matched price comparison.
