PLS UDE 2025 adds tools for navigating recorded microcontroller execution traces: function-name search, improved time-axis navigation, keyboard shortcuts for following calls and returns, and synchronized chart, trace-list, and call-graph views. The vendor announcement describes those capabilities, plus trace export and task-level CPU-use analysis; it does not provide independent benchmarks showing that debugging is faster or more effective.
What UDE 2025 is—and what the announcement establishes
Universal Debug Engine (UDE) is PLS Programmierbare Logik & Systeme’s commercial software for debugging and trace-based analysis of complex microcontroller applications. The UDE 2025 feature descriptions below come from a PLS-originated release description reproduced by Embedded.com.
That announcement said UDE 2025 would be unveiled at Embedded World 2025 in Nuremberg, with full market launch scheduled for May 2025. Those were planned dates in the 2025 announcement, not confirmation of current availability. Check with PLS for the current version, availability, licensing, and support for a particular target.
How the trace-navigation changes work
Execution Sequence Chart
The Execution Sequence Chart displays functions or operating-system tasks in chronological order. UDE 2025’s announced additions include searching for a function by name, improved navigation along the time axis, and keyboard shortcuts for following function calls and returns. These features are aimed at moving through recorded execution, rather than automatically identifying or repairing an error.

Synchronized trace views
UDE 2025 synchronizes the Execution Sequence Chart with the recorded trace list in the UDE Trace Window and the trace-based Call Graph in real time. This lets an engineer move among related representations of recorded runtime behavior. The release does not claim that synchronization itself diagnoses the cause of a fault.
Redesigned home screen
The announcement also describes a redesigned home screen. Recently used debugger workspaces are sorted by time, and the workflow for creating debugging sessions is streamlined. These are session-management changes, separate from the trace-analysis features.

Timing analysis, trace export, and RTOS task usage
Exporting recorded trace data
UDE can record and export trace data for further analysis in other tools. The announcement names Vector and INCHRON as examples. It does not specify supported file formats, tool versions, or the steps needed to transfer a particular trace, so confirm those details for the tools and workflow you use.
GLIWA T1.timing integration
The release describes strengthened integration with GLIWA T1.timing through UDE’s software API for debug and test automation, allowing T1.timing to incorporate UDE functions. This is distinct from the stated ability to export traces for analysis in tools such as Vector and INCHRON; the announcement does not give implementation details or compatibility requirements.

CPU utilization by task
For RTOS analysis, UDE 2025 is described as providing a statistical evaluation of CPU utilization per task over the trace observation period. The release supplies no accuracy figures, benchmark results, or further detail about measurement conditions. Treat this as a stated analysis capability, not an independently validated measurement claim.

- Whether your target microcontroller and debug interface are supported.
- Whether your hardware and configuration can capture the trace data your analysis requires.
- Whether trace export works with the versions and formats used by your Vector, INCHRON, or other analysis workflow.
- Whether your RTOS or AUTOSAR timing workflow needs task-level CPU-use analysis or integration with GLIWA T1.timing.
- Whether synchronized chart, trace-list, and call-graph navigation suits how your team investigates runtime behavior.
- What licensing, support, and current-version terms apply to your intended use.
The release does not establish compatibility with a specific probe, evaluation board, or MCU, nor does it state pricing or license conditions. Those need to be confirmed with PLS for the intended configuration.
