If you’re looking for a Play Store download for PC Windows 10, Google does not provide the full Android Play Store as a Windows desktop app in its cited official documentation. For supported mobile games, Google offers Google Play Games on PC. For supported apps already on your Android phone, Microsoft Phone Link can mirror them on your PC; they still run on the phone.
Can you download Google Play Store on Windows 10?
Not as the full Android Play Store desktop app. Google’s official PC product is Google Play Games on PC, which provides a selection of supported games rather than the complete Android app catalog. Game availability and compatibility vary by title. Google says the product is free to use, although individual games and in-game items may cost money. Its product page also says Google performs “over 10,000 safety checks on every game”; that is Google’s own claim, not an independent verification.
Choose a route based on what you want to do:
| Goal | Route | Where the app runs |
|---|---|---|
| Play supported mobile games | Google Play Games on PC | In Google’s PC product; only supported games are available. |
| Use supported apps already on an Android phone | Microsoft Phone Link | On the phone, mirrored and controlled from the PC. |
| Install a Windows app or game | Microsoft Store | On Windows. |
How to install Google Play Games on a Windows 10 PC
- Check that your PC meets Google’s requirements below.
- On the Windows PC, open Google’s Google Play Games on PC page and select Download.
- Open the downloaded installer and follow its prompts. If the PC does not meet Google’s minimum requirements, the installer will notify you and stop.
- If prompted, enable Windows Hypervisor Platform and restart the PC so the change takes effect. Google warns that other emulators might not work while this platform is enabled.
- For games that need CPU virtualization, enable hardware virtualization in the PC’s BIOS or UEFI settings. The way to enter those settings differs by computer maker, so follow the computer manufacturer’s instructions rather than relying on a universal key.
Windows 10 requirements for Google Play Games on PC
Google’s published minimums are requirements, not results from independent testing. The page recommends an SSD as the main drive.
| Component | Google’s listed minimum |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 version 2004 |
| Storage | SSD with 10 GB available |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | Intel UHD Graphics 630 or comparable |
| Processor | Four physical CPU cores |
| Other | Windows administrator account; hardware virtualization turned on |
For better gameplay performance, Google recommends a gaming-class GPU such as Nvidia GeForce MX450 and eight logical CPU cores. Google’s other listed minimums still apply. Some games may not work well on PCs that only meet minimum requirements; Google provides catalog filters and performance warnings on game pages.

If storage is the only requirement you miss
First check whether your PC already has an SSD and whether it has 10 GB free. An SSD could be relevant if your computer lacks one or does not have enough available storage, but buying one does not install the Play Store or guarantee that the PC meets the other requirements.
Use Android apps from your phone with Phone Link
Phone Link is an option if the app is already installed on a supported Android phone and you want to open it from Windows. It displays and lets you interact with supported apps over Wi-Fi, but the app itself remains on the phone; Phone Link does not install it on the PC.

Microsoft says the multiple-app experience requires Windows 10 May 2020 Update or later, an Android 11 device, and compatible versions of Link to Windows and Phone Link. Device and feature support varies, and some capabilities are limited to selected device families. Check Microsoft’s Phone Link app requirements and setup guidance for current compatibility.

If you need a Windows-native app or game rather than an Android app, search for it in Microsoft Store and use the store’s download or install option. This installs a Windows app; it does not provide access to the complete Android Play Store catalog.

Keep the download and compatibility claims in perspective
- Download Google Play Games only from Google’s official PC product page; its catalog is limited to supported games.
- Do not treat Phone Link as an Android emulator: compatible apps are mirrored from a linked phone.
- Requirements, game availability, regional eligibility, and linked-device support can change. Check the current Google and Microsoft product pages before installing.
- Google’s official pages cited here do not establish unofficial Windows Android builds or third-party APK downloads as safe, supported, or current.
