Pixel Watch 4 is no longer a rumor: Google announced it on August 20, 2025. The LTE model supports Satellite SOS, while Google’s specifications list red and infrared sensors for SpO₂ monitoring. Those facts do not mean every Pixel Watch 4 has satellite service or that the watch provides continuous, medical-grade oxygen monitoring.
Does Pixel Watch 4 have satellite SOS?
Yes, but only the Pixel Watch 4 LTE model is compatible. Google describes it as standalone emergency satellite communication for contacting emergency services when Wi-Fi or mobile service is unavailable. The feature is not routine satellite messaging.
To start a connection, you need to be outdoors with a clear view of the sky and follow the watch’s prompts to align it. Satellite messaging temporarily blocks access to other watch functions. Google also requires registration and software updates before Satellite SOS is activated. Connection and emergency communication depend on conditions and are not guaranteed.

What does Pixel Watch 4 offer for blood oxygen?
Google’s specifications list red and infrared sensors for SpO₂ monitoring. The presence of those sensors does not establish that the watch continuously measures blood oxygen or provides medical-grade readings. Google’s materials reviewed describe a separate safety feature, Breathing Emergency Detection, rather than an unqualified continuous oxygen-monitoring service.
How Breathing Emergency Detection works
Google says this opt-in feature is available on Pixel Watch 4 and higher in supported European countries. When the watch is worn, it uses the rear heart-rate sensor to measure oxygen. If it detects a persistent, dangerously low level, it checks whether the wearer needs help. If the wearer does not respond during the 30-second check-in, the watch prompts a call to emergency services. Google product manager Pramod Rudrapatna and principal software engineer Tajinder Gadh described the feature in an August 12, 2026 Google post.

Limits to understand
- Google says the feature cannot identify every breathing emergency.
- It is not intended for people with preexisting respiratory conditions or chronically low oxygen.
- It does not replace real-time oxygen-monitoring devices prescribed by healthcare professionals.
- It will not detect emergencies after the wearer has been asleep for 30 minutes, and performance may vary with individual factors.
Google states these limitations in its Breathing Emergency Detection help page. The official materials cited here do not establish an independent clinical accuracy figure or study for the feature.

| Emergency satellite communication | Choose Pixel Watch 4 LTE, confirm your country is supported, and account for the clear-sky and setup requirements. |
| SpO₂ sensors | Google lists red and infrared SpO₂ sensors in the Pixel Watch 4 specifications; that listing alone does not promise continuous medical monitoring. |
| Prescribed real-time oxygen monitoring | Use the device recommended by your healthcare professional; Google says Breathing Emergency Detection is not a replacement. |
