If Pinterest links are not showing a preview in Discord, first check that Discord is allowed to display embeds and link previews. Then compare the same Pin in another channel, use its direct Pinterest URL, and determine whether the whole preview is missing or only its image. Those checks help narrow down whether the issue is a personal setting, channel permission, link format, or image delivery problem.
1. Check Discord’s link-preview setting
Discord can show previews beneath web links, but a user setting can hide them. In the desktop app, open User Settings > Display > Messages and enable Show embeds and link previews. Discord’s desktop guidance, published April 16, 2026, describes this setting as controlling whether previews display automatically: Discord’s display-settings guide.
If the menu labels differ in your client, search User Settings for “embeds.” Retest by posting a Pinterest link in a new message.
2. Find out whether it is limited to one channel
Try the same link in another channel or server where you can post. If it previews there but not in the original channel, ask a moderator to check the channel and your role for the Embed Links permission. This is a useful diagnostic, but Discord’s cited display-settings article does not document the role-permission path.

If the message itself disappears rather than remaining without a preview, that is a different symptom from a hidden or failed embed; check the channel’s rules or ask a moderator whether the message was removed.
3. Use the direct Pinterest Pin URL
Open the Pin on Pinterest and copy its direct Pinterest address, rather than relying on a shortened or redirecting link. Pinterest says some redirects and URL shorteners are not allowed and recommends linking directly to the source where possible: Pinterest’s broken-link guidance.

Send the direct URL in a new Discord message and compare the result with the original link. This tests whether the link form is involved; it does not guarantee that Discord will generate a preview for every Pin.

If the message contains only the URL, return to the display-setting check, compare another channel, and test the direct Pin URL. These checks distinguish a user-level display setting, a channel-specific issue, and a link-format problem without assuming a particular cause.

Discord says DNS problems, ISP filtering, or security software can interfere with image loading. Try the current steps in Discord’s image and video troubleshooting guide. Its examples of specific ISPs date to 2023, so treat those examples as historical rather than a current list of affected providers.
5. Troubleshoot Pinterest if the service itself is misbehaving
If Pinterest also fails to load or behave normally in your browser or app, Pinterest recommends checking your connection, updating the app or browser, temporarily disabling interfering extensions, and clearing the cache. See Pinterest’s app troubleshooting guidance. These general steps may help Pinterest work correctly, but they do not ensure Discord will render a link preview.

6. Retest with a fresh message
After changing a setting or switching to the direct Pin URL, send that URL as a new Discord message. A fresh post is a practical way to see whether the change helped; it is not a guaranteed cache reset. The available sources do not establish a universal preview refresh method or a fixed wait time.
