For photo printing plus everyday scanning and copying, consider the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8500 or ET-8550 for six-color tank ink, the Canon PIXMA MegaTank G3262 for refillable four-color ink, and the HP Envy Photo 7930 or ENVY Photo 7858 for cartridge-based multifunction features. The ET-8550 is the only model in this shortlist documented for borderless prints up to 13 × 19 inches; the others are better considered for smaller photo formats. This is a specification-based shortlist, not a lab ranking: the available sources do not provide comparable print samples, current prices, or confirmed retailer stock.
How to choose an all-in-one printer for photos
Start with the size and type of photos you expect to print, then weigh ink system, media support, document features, and ongoing ink and paper costs. A high resolution figure alone cannot establish which printer will produce the best-looking photo; that requires comparable print tests.
- Photo size: Decide whether you need snapshots and letter-size prints or wide-format output.
- Ink and volume: Refillable tanks suit a different usage pattern from cartridge models. Estimate your own mix of photos and documents rather than relying on a generic cost-per-photo figure.
- Media: Check for the photo paper, cardstock, or fine-art media you plan to use, along with the printer’s supported sizes and thicknesses.
- Home-office features: Consider scanning, copying, faxing, automatic duplexing, paper trays, and mobile or PC-free printing.
- Regional availability: Confirm the exact model name, current price, and availability where you live. Specifications and model availability can vary by region and change over time.
Five photo all-in-one printers to consider
These models illustrate different compromises rather than a first-to-fifth ranking. Manufacturer pages describe their features, but do not provide a common independent photo-quality comparison.
Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8500: six-color tank for smaller-format photo work
The ET-8500 combines a refillable six-color Claria ET photographic dye-ink system with printing, scanning, and copying. Epson describes a high-resolution scanner, creative-media support, mobile and PC-free printing, and an SD card slot for the EcoTank Photo family. It is a fit to consider if you print photos regularly and want a tank-based multifunction printer without making wide-format output the main requirement. See Epson’s ET-8500 listing and its EcoTank Photo family page.

Epson’s 2026 family page says its latest EcoTank Photo Claria inks have ratings of more than 75 years for color prints and more than 100 years for black-and-white prints, referencing Wilhelm Imaging Research testing. Epson describes accelerated testing on specified media with prints displayed indoors under glass; it also cautions that actual stability varies with media, image, display conditions, light, humidity, and atmosphere, and does not guarantee print longevity. Treat the figures as qualified manufacturer-reported test results, not guaranteed lifespans.
Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550: wide-format and specialty-media flexibility
The ET-8550 shares the six-color photo-tank approach but stands out for size: Epson says it prints borderless up to 13 × 19 inches. Epson also describes specialty-media support, including cardstock up to 1.3 mm thick. That makes it the format-flexibility option in this group if you want larger prints or creative media; those features may be unnecessary for a household that mainly prints occasional 4 × 6 snapshots. Details appear in Epson’s ET-8500 and ET-8550 announcement and the EcoTank Photo family page.

Canon PIXMA MegaTank G3262: refillable four-color ink for home use
The G3262 uses refillable four-color GI-21 bottle ink and supports borderless photo printing up to letter size. Canon’s brochure lists a 100-sheet rear tray, flatbed scanning, copying, and mobile printing. It may suit a home that needs both documents and smaller photos but does not need output wider than letter size.

These are approximate document-page yields from Canon’s circa-2023 brochure, based on its stated test method and continuous-printing simulation. Actual yields vary with content, ink levels, and other conditions; these figures are not estimates of how many photos a bottle set will print. HP Envy Photo 7930: cartridge model with a dedicated photo tray
HP’s U.S. specification result lists print, scan, copy, and photo functions, a 15-sheet photo tray, automatic duplexing, and borderless printing up to letter size. It uses a two-cartridge thermal inkjet system. The separate tray and automatic two-sided printing may matter if the printer will also handle everyday family or home-office jobs. Because cartridge use and paper choice affect ongoing cost, compare replacement ink and photo paper against your expected volume rather than treating a resolution figure as a cost or quality measure. See HP’s Envy Photo 7930 specifications.
HP ENVY Photo 7858: check regional availability before considering
HP’s U.S. support specification result lists print, fax, scan, copy, web, and photo functions, and describes optimized color-resolution conditions on selected HP photo paper. It does not establish current retail availability or price. Confirm that the 7858 is sold in your region and check its current supplies and cost before treating it as a practical alternative. See HP’s ENVY Photo 7858 specifications.

What the specifications do—and do not—tell you
The listed features help narrow the choice, but they do not settle which printer makes the most pleasing print. Epson’s ink-life ratings are manufacturer-reported results with specific test and display qualifications; Canon’s bottle yields are estimates of document pages under Canon’s method, not photo counts. None of these sources gives a directly comparable set of prints or a current, consistent cost-per-photo calculation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor a meaningful cost estimate, use your likely number and mix of prints, the correct model-specific replacement ink, and the paper you intend to buy. Epson says costs and savings vary considerably with tasks, volume, and usage. Canon identifies GI-21 bottles for the G3262; do not assume another ink bottle is compatible without checking the exact printer. Epson recommends photo and fine-art papers for its EcoTank Photo family.
