Yes. Persoft’s May 2, 1997 announcement said that 32-bit SmarTerm version 7.0 for Windows 95/NT supported Microsoft SNA Server 3.0. The announcement describes a historical compatibility claim; it does not establish that SmarTerm is available today or works with modern Windows or server versions.
What the 1997 compatibility claim meant
EE Times carried Persoft’s announcement identifying the product as SmarTerm for Windows 95/NT version 7.0. Persoft described SmarTerm as host-connectivity software for IBM mainframes, IBM AS/400 systems, Unix and other hosts, as well as X clients. Its announcement said that using SNA Server 3.0 enhanced printer emulation, scalability, log-on automation, security and performance when accessing mainframe and AS/400 applications. EE Times, May 5, 1997.
The announcement reproduced Persoft’s statement that “SmarTerm is compatible with all network operating systems and provides simultaneous TCP/IP, SNA, SAA, and LAT protocol support.” That is a vendor claim made in 1997, not a present-day compatibility guarantee.
