If your pension stopped after a life certificate issue, first check whether the Digital Life Certificate (DLC) was accepted—not just generated. Download it through Jeevan Pramaan and review its status. If it was rejected, ask the pension disbursing agency which detail needs correction. If it was accepted, contact the agency that actually pays your pension and ask it to trace the missing installment. A Pramaan ID or successful-submission SMS alone does not confirm approval or restart payment.

First, establish what happened to the certificate

  1. Find your Pramaan ID. Keep the SMS or acknowledgement from certificate generation. If you have the PDF, save it as well.
  2. Check the DLC status. Use the official Jeevan Pramaan status and download guidance to retrieve the certificate. The FAQ says to download the DLC to see whether it was accepted or rejected.
  3. Compare it with your pension records. Have your PPO or pension authority document, recent bank statement or passbook, and pension-account details available. Check the name, Aadhaar, PPO number, pension account, sanctioning authority, and disbursing agency shown in the certificate against the records held by your pension authority.

Successful biometric authentication can generate a certificate and SMS acknowledgement, but the DLC remains subject to approval by the Pension Sanctioning or Disbursing Authority entered during submission. Treat the status—not the SMS alone—as the next diagnostic clue.

If the DLC was rejected

Contact the Pension Disbursing Agency (PDA) named for your pension and ask which detail caused the rejection. Jeevan Pramaan identifies incorrect particulars as a possible reason for rejection and advises contacting the PDA. Verify the certificate against your PPO and the agency’s records before submitting again.

  1. Ask the PDA to identify the field that must be corrected. This matters if the pension record itself, rather than the certificate entry, is wrong.
  2. Correct the underlying detail with the relevant authority if needed.
  3. Follow the PDA’s instructions to generate a new Jeevan Pramaan with the correct particulars and biometrics. A regenerated certificate has a new Pramaan ID.
  4. Download the new certificate and check its status; keep the new ID and acknowledgement with your records.

The official Jeevan Pramaan FAQ specifically directs pensioners whose DLC is rejected to contact their Pension Disbursing Agency.

If the DLC was accepted but payment is still missing

An accepted life certificate does not by itself explain why a payment was stopped. Check your statement or passbook for the last credited month and any reversal, then contact the authority responsible for disbursement under your pension arrangement. Ask for the recorded stoppage reason and for the unpaid installment to be traced. The correct contact may vary: the current Jeevan Pramaan sanctioning-authority and disbursing-agency directory lists different routes for central civil, defence, and telecom pensions.

For a DoT or BSNL pensioner migrated from bank intermediation to SAMPANN, the Department of Telecommunications says the concerned CCA handles disbursement and receives the life certificate. The DoT SAMPANN migration page also describes dashboard information on certificate expiry and pension paid, plus grievance submission and tracking. Confirm that this applies to your pension before using that route.

Choose a certificate route you can use

Route What it is for Important condition
Jeevan Pramaan status and download Checking whether a generated DLC was accepted or rejected and keeping a copy. The entered authority must still approve the certificate. See the official FAQ.
Corrected DLC Addressing a rejection caused by incorrect particulars. Ask the PDA which field to correct; the new certificate receives a new Pramaan ID. See the official FAQ.
Citizen Service Centre or PDA office Getting assisted certificate generation at a listed centre or an office such as a bank, post office, or treasury. The pension scheme and agency must support the route. See the Jeevan Pramaan service overview.
IPPB post-office or doorstep assistance Getting help with DLC generation if you cannot conveniently self-serve or travel. IPPB says the service is available to IPPB and non-IPPB customers where the pension disbursing agency is live on DLC. Its page lists ₹70 per successful generation, inclusive of GST/cess, and no doorstep charge; confirm current availability and fee with IPPB. See IPPB’s Digital Life Certificate service page.
Direct follow-up with the payer or pension authority Tracing a missed payment after the certificate has been accepted. The correct office depends on the pension arrangement; eligible DoT/BSNL pensioners migrated to SAMPANN should contact their concerned CCA. See the DoT instructions.

The Jeevan Pramaan service overview describes self-service generation using a certified biometric device, its RD Service, the Jeevan Pramaan application, and internet access. An assisted option may be more practical if you do not have the required setup.

IPPB lists Aadhaar, an existing mobile number, Aadhaar registration with the disbursing agency, pension type, sanctioning authority, disbursing agency, PPO, and pension-account details among the prerequisites for its assisted service. Check the IPPB service page and confirm arrangements before requesting a visit. Generating a DLC through an assisted service does not itself reactivate a stopped pension.

Jeevan Pramaan says re-employed or remarried pensioners cannot use its DLC facility and must submit a conventional life certificate to their PDA. Contact that agency for the applicable submission instructions.

Make the payment inquiry traceable

When you contact the agency, provide the PPO number, pensioner’s name, last month paid, Pramaan ID, and DLC status. Ask for the recorded reason for stoppage, the action required to release payment, and a complaint or reference number. Keep the certificate, acknowledgements, and any response together; if the agency provides an online grievance dashboard, use it to track the case.

There is no single resumption deadline or arrears process established for every Indian pension arrangement. Ask the authority responsible for your specific pension how it handles restoration and any unpaid installments.
