If a PDFShift PDF is missing images, first check whether those images load only after scrolling. PDFShift says its conversion does not ordinarily scroll the page, so lazy-loaded images may never be requested. If CSS is missing, check that the stylesheet is reachable by the converter; you can also supply CSS through PDFShift’s css parameter. The right fix depends on whether the failed resource is lazy-loaded, unreachable, or still loading.
Identify what is missing before changing the request
Compare the PDF with the source page and determine whether the problem affects an <img>, a CSS background image, a stylesheet, or several resource types. Note the affected asset URLs and check whether they load in the source page. Then review the conversion request and whether the converter can access those URLs.
Absolute URLs and successful access from your own browser do not, by themselves, establish that the conversion service can retrieve an asset. Authentication, access controls, and URL-resolution problems are reasonable things to investigate, but PDFShift’s cited troubleshooting material does not provide a complete checklist for those cases.
Fix images that load only after scrolling
PDFShift identifies lazy loading as a possible cause of missing images: some pages request an image only when it approaches the visible area, while conversion ordinarily does not scroll the page. For this case, PDFShift shows triggering a scroll with the request’s javascript field:

}This can prompt the page to load images farther down before conversion. It is a targeted remedy for scroll-triggered loading, not a general fix for broken or inaccessible image URLs.
Wait for a page-specific readiness condition
If a simple scroll is not enough, PDFShift’s help article illustrates a globally available isPDFShiftReady function used with wait_for. The API option reference describes wait_for as waiting for a global function to return a truthy value. Adapt the condition to the page and integration rather than assuming that the example fits every site.

Be careful with a readiness check based only on img.complete. PDFShift warns that a failed image can leave the example’s condition false and cause the conversion to remain blocked or fail. Define a timeout or explicit failure path in your application so an unavailable asset cannot make the job wait indefinitely.
Check the client-specific lazy-image option
PDFShift’s Elixir client reference lists lazy_load_images for loading images otherwise loaded only when visible. That reference is for Elixir client version 0.2.4; verify that the option and its exact behavior apply to your API version or SDK before using it.

Fix missing stylesheet rules
Confirm that the stylesheet URL is correct and that the converter can retrieve it. PDFShift’s guide says its css parameter accepts either a URL or a string of CSS rules. Use it to provide the rules needed for the PDF, or include suitable rules in the source HTML when that fits your workflow.
PDFShift recommends inlining CSS and JavaScript and limiting external network requests where practical as a way to reduce conversion time. That advice can reduce dependence on remote resources, but it does not prove that an external stylesheet caused a particular failure or guarantee that inlining will fix every rendering problem.

Check source status and loading time
The PDFShift client option reference lists raise_for_status, which stops conversion if the source status is not 2xx, and delay, which waits before capture. In that reference, delay is capped at 10 seconds. These settings can help investigate a source page or script that is not ready, but increasing delay is not a demonstrated fix for an inaccessible stylesheet or image URL. Prefer waiting for a specific readiness condition when the page has one.
Reduce avoidable asset dependencies
PDFShift’s help center suggests sending raw HTML instead of a URL when feasible, inlining CSS and JavaScript where practical, removing unnecessary scripts, using base64 image data where appropriate, and optimizing image dimensions. The stated aim is to reduce requests and conversion time. These measures can make a document less dependent on remote resources, but inspect the affected conversion to establish whether they address its actual failure.
