What’s actually slowing this PC down?

A PageCrawl.io HTTP 429 response means the request was rate limited; it does not by itself mean the API is down. Stop sending requests at the same pace, wait for the response’s Retry-After value when present, and add backoff before trying again. Check the current API reference for the limit that applies to your endpoint and account: PageCrawl’s published guides describe different limits.
What a 429 response means
HTTP 429 indicates that the server is limiting requests. For PageCrawl’s Push API, its documentation says: “429 | Rate limited; honor the Retry-After header before retrying.” A 429 is therefore a signal to reduce request pressure, not a reason to repeat the same call immediately.
Record the status, endpoint, timestamp, account or plan context, and response headers. These details help distinguish a rate limit from an authentication or request-validation problem.
How long should you wait?
If the response includes Retry-After, wait for the period it specifies before retrying. PageCrawl’s Push API guidance explicitly instructs clients to honor this header. Do not substitute a guessed fixed delay when the server provides its own direction.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If no Retry-After value is present, use a backoff strategy rather than an immediate retry loop. PageCrawl’s dashboard guide recommends exponential backoff, but does not establish a universal delay for every endpoint or account. Keep retries controlled and pace or queue requests so they do not continue to exceed the applicable limit.
Which PageCrawl request limit applies?
PageCrawl’s API developer guide, last updated 19 August 2026, states limits of 60 requests per minute on Free and 300 requests per minute on paid plans. A separate PageCrawl dashboard guide says “most accounts” have a limit of 60 requests per minute. Because these descriptions do not align as a single universal cap, verify the current limit for your endpoint and account in the PageCrawl API reference. PageCrawl says that reference is generated from its OpenAPI specification and takes precedence over guide text.

REST API and webhook access is available on every plan, according to PageCrawl’s integration guide; access does not mean every plan has the same request rate. The published figures are vendor-documented service limits, not independently measured benchmarks. The sources do not establish a process or eligibility for requesting a higher rate limit; consult PageCrawl through its currently verified support channel or API reference rather than assuming an increase is available.
Reduce request pressure and retry safely
- Confirm the response. Verify that the status is 429 and note the endpoint, timestamp, account context, and returned headers.
- Honor server guidance. If
Retry-Afteris present, wait as directed before retrying. - Back off. Configure automated clients to delay retries and avoid tight loops. Where possible, queue work or pace requests below the endpoint’s applicable cap.
- Remove unnecessary calls. Look for duplicate requests, overly frequent polling, and repeated work that could be combined or scheduled less often.
- Recheck the cap. Confirm the current endpoint and account limit in the API reference instead of applying a guide figure to every integration.
For data-source pushes, PageCrawl says accepted pushes count toward the plan’s check allowance even if the value is unchanged; unchanged pushes deduplicate history entries. Avoid sending duplicate pushes when they do not serve a purpose.

Polling with REST or receiving webhooks?
| Approach | Request volume | Near-real-time delivery | Retry responsibility |
|---|---|---|---|
| REST polling | Repeated client calls can increase request volume; pace them within the applicable limit. | Depends on how often your client polls. | Your client must handle 429 responses and implement backoff. |
| Webhooks | Can avoid repeated polling calls for change notifications. | Designed to deliver change events without waiting for the next poll. | PageCrawl says webhook delivery automatically retries temporary failures with backoff. This delivery behavior is separate from REST API request limits. |
Choose polling when periodic checks fit the workflow and you can control their frequency. Consider webhooks when event delivery is a better fit and you can implement the receiving endpoint. Webhook retries do not change the rate limit for requests your own client sends to PageCrawl.
Check for 401 and 422 errors before changing retry logic
Not every failed API call is a rate limit. PageCrawl’s Push API documentation maps 401 to an invalid or missing API token on authenticated endpoints and 422 to a validation error. Check the actual status and response details: waiting and retrying will not fix a missing Bearer token or invalid request data.

For authenticated Push API calls, send the token in the Authorization header as a Bearer token. Correct authentication or validation problems before resuming requests.
Troubleshooting common 429 problems
- The client retries instantly: stop the tight loop. Honor
Retry-Afterif returned and add backoff to the retry policy. - The documented plan limit seems inconsistent: PageCrawl’s developer guide lists 60 requests per minute for Free and 300 for paid plans, while its dashboard guide calls 60 requests per minute typical for most accounts. Verify the current endpoint/account cap in the API reference.
- Requests keep failing after waiting: confirm that the retry actually waited for the supplied header value, then review request pacing and duplicate calls. Record the response details if the problem persists.
- The status is not 429: check whether it is instead a 401 authentication error or a 422 validation error, and fix the corresponding token or request data.
- You expect to raise the cap: the published guidance reviewed here does not document a rate-limit increase process. Ask PageCrawl through a currently verified support channel; do not rely on an assumed increase.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a PageCrawl 429 mean the API is down?
No. It signals rate limiting; the response alone does not establish an outage.
Can I ask PageCrawl to increase my rate limit?
The published sources do not document whether increases are available or how to request one. Confirm through PageCrawl’s current support channel.
