PadForward is a proposed community-powered network for finding and donating menstrual products in public places. Its “I Need a Pad” flow is designed to show nearby locations with reported supplies, while its donation flow suggests where products may be needed. The key caveat: the Sydney station locations and supply figures shown in the demo are explicitly demo data, not confirmed real-world inventory.
What PadForward is designed to do
PadForward addresses a practical problem: someone who unexpectedly needs a pad may not know where to find one, and a person donating products may not know which nearby location needs them. Creator ujja describes the project as “a community-powered network for finding and donating menstrual products in public places.” The creator says the idea came from needing a pad near a train station and finding none available. In the project account on DEV Community, the two main flows are presented as a way to make reported supplies easier to discover and donations easier to direct.
How the two flows work
Finding a pad
Someone who needs a product can use the “I Need a Pad” flow to view nearby locations with community-reported supply and directions. The intended benefit is that a person can look up a reported option instead of having to ask a stranger. The result depends on whether a recent, accurate supply report exists for a suitable location.
Directing a donation
A donor can enter how many products are available and receive a suggested location based on reported supply and estimated need. The aim is to connect a donation with a place reporting greater need, rather than treating every possible drop-off point as equally urgent.

Reporting supply
PadForward’s described reporting options include “Plenty,” “A few,” “None,” and “Not sure,” alongside timestamps and a confidence model. Those signals are useful only to the extent that people submit accurate updates and the reports remain fresh; a timestamp or confidence label is not, by itself, proof that products are physically present.
What the demo does—and does not—confirm
The creator says the demo uses real Sydney station coordinates, but labels the locations as demo community points and the supply figures as demo data, not real inventory. A displayed station, count, status, need score, or walking time should therefore not be treated as confirmation that pads are available there. The creator’s description links to a live demo, but neither its current accessibility nor the presence of operating supply points has been independently confirmed.

The creator also describes possible settings including public transport, universities, workplaces, and community centres. These are prospective locations, not confirmed PadForward partners. The project account does not identify an operating partner network or establish that products are currently stocked at those venues.
AI and blockchain claims, in context
The creator describes an AI agent that can use application tools to find nearby locations, check reports, route donations, and process supply reports. The submission also describes photo-based reporting, donation-record transactions on Solana devnet, and fallback behavior using browser AI and deterministic logic. These are creator-reported design and implementation details, not results of an independent application test or code audit.

DEV’s October 1, 2026 challenge recap names PadForward under Best Use of Google AI and summarizes its AI-agent and Solana elements. That recognition is separate from evidence that inventory reports are verified or that the service is operating at real locations.

- Inventory freshness: How recently was each supply report updated, and how are stale or conflicting reports handled?
- Coverage: Are there useful locations within a practical distance, including when public venues are closed?
- Restocking: Who supplies products, checks stock, and responds when a location runs out?
- Reporting access: Can people update availability quickly, including when connectivity or device access is limited?
- Privacy: What information is collected from people requesting products or submitting reports, and how is it protected?
These are evaluation criteria prompted by PadForward’s community-reporting model, not measured strengths or weaknesses of a verified deployed service.
