For dinosaur exhibits in Seattle, the Burke Museum is the better choice right now. Its permanent Fossils Uncovered gallery includes real dinosaur fossils and a T. rex skull. Pacific Science Center’s long-running animatronic dinosaur exhibit was retired in 2025, so it is not a current alternative for seeing dinosaurs.
What can you see at each museum now?
| Museum | Dinosaur offering | What the experience is like |
|---|---|---|
| Burke Museum | Its permanent Fossils Uncovered gallery features real dinosaur fossils, including a T. rex skull. | A paleontology and natural-history gallery that also covers plant fossils, Ice Age mammals, and Earth’s history. |
| Pacific Science Center | The museum’s long-running dinosaur exhibit was retired in 2025, according to its retrospective. It is not listed among the center’s current exhibits. | The former attraction featured animatronic dinosaurs, sound, and interactive elements; it should be treated as a past experience, not a current gallery. |
Why the Burke is the stronger choice for dinosaur exhibits
The key difference is what is available to see today. At the Burke, visitors can encounter actual fossil specimens in a gallery dedicated to fossils and the history of life. That makes it the straightforward option for anyone whose main goal is to see dinosaur fossils in Seattle.
Pacific Science Center’s dinosaur attraction offered a different kind of appeal: moving, sound-making animatronics and interactive features. The center’s history page documents its retirement in 2025. Its current exhibit roster does not include that dinosaur attraction, so don’t plan a visit expecting to find it open.

Choose the Burke for fossils and natural history
Beyond dinosaurs, Fossils Uncovered includes plant fossils and Ice Age mammals, placing dinosaurs within a broader account of Earth’s history. The Burke also has other natural-history and cultural galleries, making it a broader museum visit rather than a dinosaurs-only stop.

Choose Pacific Science Center for its current science-center offerings
PacSci remains a science center with other exhibits and visitor experiences. It may suit an itinerary focused on those offerings, but the retired dinosaur exhibit is not a reason to choose it for a current dinosaur display. Check the current exhibit list for what is on view.
