To keep an FAQ and its structured data in sync, render both from one canonical array of questions and answers. That is the maintainability rule Daniel Pertu describes in his October 1, 2026 article: edits to an entry then flow to the visible page and its FAQPage JSON-LD together. It is his implementation rule—not a requirement Google imposes on every site.

Use one source for the visible FAQ and its JSON-LD

Keep each question-and-answer pair in a shared data structure, then use it both to render the page and to build the structured-data node. In Pertu’s example, an entries array renders a visible definition list and is also passed to faqLd(entries). Removing or revising an entry therefore changes both representations rather than leaving stale markup behind.

The point is not that an array is the only valid implementation. It is that there should be a dependable relationship between what readers see and what the page describes to search engines. Separate copies of the same FAQ text can drift as content is edited; deriving both outputs from one source makes that particular mismatch less likely. Pertu reports using the pattern across 69 content pages, an implementation count from his own site rather than an independent audit or industry statistic.

Emit one FAQPage node for the page

FAQPage describes FAQ content on a page. If a page has several FAQ blocks, Pertu combines their arrays and lets one block emit the page-level node, rather than having each block emit a separate FAQPage node. His implementation enables emitStructuredData by default for the ordinary single-block case.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

This is an architectural choice in the article, not a claim that Google requires this particular code structure. The useful check is that the page-level description corresponds to the FAQ content readers can actually find on that page.

Google’s rules matter more than the implementation pattern

Google’s structured data guidelines say markup should represent content visible to readers. Hidden, irrelevant, or misleading markup can make a page ineligible for a rich result. Google supports JSON-LD, Microdata, and RDFa, and recommends JSON-LD; valid markup still does not guarantee that a rich result will appear.

For FAQ markup in particular, Google’s August 2023 announcement said FAQ rich results would be shown regularly only for well-known, authoritative government and health websites. Google also said sites did not need to proactively remove unused FAQ markup, but that unused markup would have no visible Search effects. An ordinary editorial or commercial site should not treat FAQPage markup as a way to secure an FAQ search enhancement.

Do not use QAPage for a site-written FAQ

A multi-question FAQ written and maintained by a site is not the same thing as a user-submitted Q&A page. Google’s QAPage documentation defines that markup for a page focused on one question, where users can submit answers. It explicitly says not to use QAPage for an FAQ page or a page with multiple questions.

Apply the same principle to other structured data selectively

Pertu’s broader implementation ties structured data to the content or interface it describes, while declining to mark up content types that do not fit.

  • HowTo: Derive steps from the guide’s rendered RUNNING_ORDER section. Use HowTo markup only for a genuine numbered procedure; an ideas list is not a procedure. In his hosting-a-quiz guide, Pertu reports eight visible steps and eight HowToStep nodes. These are his example-page counts, not independently verified measurements.
  • Article: Make Article markup opt-in. In the described implementation, the headline and description come from a content-registry node. Because the pages are evergreen and revised in place, the author uses the node’s update date for both datePublished and dateModified. He does not invent a named human author to fill a schema field.
  • BreadcrumbList: Call the same breadcrumbFor(path) function used by the visible breadcrumb component. Return no node when the breadcrumb trail has fewer than two items.

These examples follow one practical question: what visible page content supports each field, and what keeps the two from drifting apart? Pertu puts it this way: “If you write JSON-LD by hand, the question to ask of every field is not "is this valid" but "what does the page have to show for this to be true, and what stops the two drifting apart next quarter".”

What the shared-array rule can—and cannot—do

A canonical array is a maintainability technique. It can reduce the risk that FAQ text and its structured-data representation diverge when questions are added, edited, or removed. It does not establish that the approach improves rankings, traffic, or eligibility for a rich result; the article describes an implementation, not a controlled comparison. Nor does a shared source excuse markup that describes hidden or inaccurate content. The visible page and the structured data still need to agree.
