ORION Security announced a $32 million Series A on February 3, 2026, led by Norwest Venture Partners with IBM and existing investors participating. The enterprise software company says it will use the money to develop its AI agents and large language models and expand go-to-market operations. The round brings its reported total funding to $38 million.
Who funded ORION Security?
Norwest Venture Partners led the Series A. IBM joined the round alongside existing investors, including PICO Venture Partners, Lama Partners and Underscore VC. ORION announced the financing on February 3, 2026; the company’s announcement and SecurityWeek’s coverage report a $32 million raise, bringing total capital raised to $38 million.
What does ORION Security do?
ORION is an enterprise data-loss prevention (DLP) software company, not a maker of physical security devices. It describes its product as an AI-native platform that analyzes data movement across endpoints, browsers, SaaS applications, email, cloud environments, and AI or MCP workflows.
Rather than looking only for a predefined rule violation, the company says its agents assess context such as the sensitivity and lineage of data, the user’s identity and behavior, and the apparent purpose of an action. IBM’s description highlights graph-based data lineage and LLM-powered classification. The intended result is to identify and stop unauthorized data exfiltration before it becomes a breach; that is the product’s stated aim, not a proven outcome established by the funding announcement.

How does AI data-loss prevention work?
Traditional DLP commonly relies on policies that define what data is sensitive and which actions are allowed. ORION says its approach combines policies for deterministic cases with autonomous, context-driven analysis for less predictable data movement. In practice, that means the system is designed to consider not just what data is involved, but who is moving it, where it came from, and why it may be moving.
ORION and investor Norwest characterize legacy DLP as dependent on large numbers of manually authored rules, ongoing tuning, and workflows that can produce false positives. Those are their descriptions of the problem and of ORION’s proposed alternative—not independently verified comparative performance results. The available announcements do not establish deployment times, false-positive rates, or how ORION performs against other DLP products.

Is ORION replacing traditional DLP?
ORION is positioning its platform as a different approach to DLP, not announcing that it has replaced traditional products across customer environments. Its stated model retains policies for cases that can be handled deterministically and uses agent-based analysis where context is less predictable. Buyers evaluating it against other vendors would need to assess channel coverage, integrations, identity and lineage visibility, AI-agent workflow support, operational tuning, and false-positive handling in their own environments.
Why does the funding matter?
The company says the new capital will accelerate development of proprietary LLMs and specialized AI agents, while expanding go-to-market operations. The raise is a notable financing event for a startup founded in 2024, but funding does not by itself validate product effectiveness or establish market adoption.

Norwest estimates the DLP market at more than $3 billion today and more than $10 billion by 2030. That is the investor’s market estimate, not an audited market statistic. Norwest General Partner Dave Zilberman said, “ORION is rewriting the rules of data security, eliminating the rigid policy structures that have held DLP back for decades.” CEO and co-founder Nitay Milner said, “This funding is a powerful validation of what we’ve believed from day one: better policies are not the solution for DLP.” Both statements express the speakers’ views.
Who founded ORION?
CEO Nitay Milner and CTO Jonathan Kreiner founded ORION in 2024. The company describes itself as based in New York City with offices in Tel Aviv; SecurityWeek describes it as a Tel Aviv-based startup. Milner previously worked as a product leader at Epsagon, which Cisco acquired, and Kreiner led application security at WalkMe. Norwest’s company profile also describes the founders and the business.

What has ORION reported since the funding?
In its Q2 2026 update, ORION said it had added customers across Fortune 500 companies, healthcare, and big tech, and was expanding its channel-partner and strategic-alliance network. Alera Group CISO Matthew Mudry described the product as delivering “accurate, meaningful, and actionable insights on day one.” These are company-reported customer and executive statements; the update does not provide independently verified performance measurements.
