Track each clue with the puzzle context it came from, what you observed, the rule you think it suggests, and what remains uncertain. That simple separation matters in Order of the Sinking Star: the official game site describes more than 1,000 interconnected puzzles across four worlds, each with its own mechanics, characters, and story. The game is scheduled to release on October 8, 2026, so this is a spoiler-light planning guide based on announced features—not a full-release walkthrough or a firsthand playthrough.

How to keep clues useful across worlds

Use a note format that preserves both the clue and its context. A rule that seems obvious in one puzzle may be easy to misapply later if you do not remember where it came from or whether you actually confirmed it.

  1. Label where the clue appeared. Note the world, location, puzzle, or another identifier you will recognize. The official site describes four distinct worlds with separate mechanics; context can help you avoid treating every observation as universal. The official game site
  2. Write down what happened before what you think it means. Record the action and result as an observation, then put your interpretation in a separate field. Mark an interpretation tentative until another puzzle or interaction supports it.
  3. Capture the blockage. Note the obstacle, missing condition, or interaction you could not resolve. The Steam description says players can revisit worlds and challenges, so a short return note can make it easier to resume later. Order of the Sinking Star on Steam
  4. Reassess old notes when you learn something new. If a new character or mechanic becomes available, compare it with earlier unresolved observations. A July 21, 2026 PlayStation Blog hands-on preview describes characters with puzzle-driven abilities and interactions between characters from different worlds. It is a preview, not a complete rule list for the final game.
  5. Treat collected notes as evidence, not a guaranteed checklist. The Steam description says players learn through gameplay and notes they collect. It does not establish that an objective log automatically records every unfinished puzzle.

A compact format you can use on paper or in your own notes is: context | observed behavior | possible rule | confidence (confirmed / tentative) | unresolved question | revisit when. This is a suggested method, not a documented in-game notebook feature.

What to compare when a puzzle remains unsolved

When returning to a puzzle, compare the clue with what you now know rather than relying on memory alone. The game’s announced structure makes four practical comparison fields especially useful:

Kirby Star Allies - Nintendo Switch
  • Use friend hearts to charm enemies and they'll fight alongside you! drop-in/drop-out co-op: up to three other players can take control of Kirby's new friends

  • Combine abilities with elements such as wind and water to create new friend abilities some bosses and enemies are weak to certain elemental attacks, so remember to Strategize
  • Battery: no battery used;Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) Content Description: Cartoon violence
  • World or system: Where did the observation occur, and which mechanic seemed involved?
  • Character ability: Does the obstacle appear to depend on one character’s ability, or on combining abilities? The preview supports considering these possibilities but does not give a comprehensive ability list.
  • Evidence versus inference: What did you directly see happen, and what rule did you infer from it?
  • Next action: Is the puzzle solvable with what you currently know, or should you revisit it after another discovery?

The official site identifies the game’s foundations as Skipping Stones to Lonely Homes and Mirror Isles by Alan Hazelden, Promesst 1–3 by Sean Barrett, and Heroes of Sokoban 1, 2, and 3 by Jonah Ostroff. It briefly describes these inspirations as a stone-skipping path puzzle, a reflection-swapping island puzzle, a beam-focused grid puzzler, and fantasy Sokoban games with distinct hero movement and pushing mechanics. That variety helps explain why recording rules by context is sensible; it does not establish that a particular old clue solves a particular new puzzle.

What is confirmed about the game—and what is not

The official site describes more than 1,000 interconnected, hand-crafted puzzles in four worlds, and says the worlds eventually collide. The Steam listing says players can explore at their own pace and revisit worlds and challenges. These are announced features, not a guarantee about how any specific clue is tracked or when a puzzle becomes solvable.
