What is Order of the Sinking Star?
Order of the Sinking Star is a puzzle adventure built around exploration, a developing mystery, and puzzles with evolving mechanics. Thekla Inc. describes it as a narrative adventure led by Jonathan Blow, whose earlier games include Braid and The Witness. The advertised count of more than 1,000 handcrafted puzzles is the developer’s claim, not an independently audited total. The official game page describes the puzzles as interconnected.
The game’s four worlds each have their own mechanics, characters, and stories. Rather than presenting them as isolated levels, the official material describes an interconnected game world. Arc Games says its September 23, 2026, “Explore the Realm” trailer highlights the Overworld, non-linear exploration, and the eventual collision of the four worlds. Arc Games’ trailer announcement gives that trailer’s stated focus.

The title “launch trailer” can refer generally to promotional footage around release, but the official media page reviewed does not list an asset with that exact name. It lists an Overview Trailer for Nintendo Switch 2, a Release Date Announcement, a PS5 Announcement & Extended Overview Trailer, and an Official Announcement Trailer. Arc Games separately identifies its September 23 video as “New Trailer – Explore the Realm.” The trailer descriptions support discussion of exploration and world design, but they do not establish that every such detail appears in a particular launch video. The official media page lists the named assets.

What characters and story elements are confirmed?
Nintendo’s product description names a queen, thief, warrior, wizard, and talking boat among the playable heroes. It says players gather notes and piece together the mystery as they explore. The official material also uses the tagline “For every solution, a revelation.” This is marketing copy, not a quotation from a named speaker. Nintendo’s US product listing provides these character and story details.

The official launch notice gives October 8, 2026, with October 9 applying in some regions. Listed platforms are PC via Steam, Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.
