You can often run a Sansui TV without its remote, but only partly, and what works depends on the exact model. Start by checking the TV for physical buttons, then confirm the model number and read the manual for that model before assuming a button does what you need. If the buttons can’t reach the function you want, an exact-model replacement remote or a universal remote whose compatibility list names your model is the next step.
Step 1: Check what the TV’s own buttons can do
Most Sansui sets have some physical controls, but Sansui’s published support material does not establish one button layout that applies to every model. Do not assume the buttons sit in a particular place on the side, underside, rear, or front. Find them on your set, then check them against the manual for your model.
Physical buttons are usually enough for basic tasks such as switching the set on or off, adjusting volume, and changing channels. Menu navigation and input selection are less certain, so test those before you rely on them.

Model number matters more than the product line name. A manual for one Sansui model can show different buttons, menus, or input options from another.

- Find the model number on the rear label of the TV or on the original packaging and product documentation.
- Open Sansui’s US download page for user manuals and support guides.
- Locate the manual that matches your model number exactly. Sansui lists separate manuals for its VIDAA, Google TV, WebOS, Android TV, and basic LED lines.
- Read the section on the remote and any section on physical TV buttons. Note which functions the manual says are available without the remote.
What model manuals show
Sansui’s manuals show how controls are documented for specific sets. They are not a universal guide to the whole brand, and the examples below should be read that way.
Example: the S43P28F remote layout
The Sansui S43P28F user manual describes remote functions for power, input or source, home, volume, channels, system menu, directional navigation, and OK. That list describes the remote for that model. It does not confirm that the set’s physical buttons expose the same functions, and it should not be used as the layout for other Sansui TVs.
Example: source selection on the SLED3215
The Sansui SLED3215 user manual describes a remote SOURCE button that cycles through inputs. This shows that changing input is a remote-controlled task on that model. It does not show that every Sansui model handles input selection the same way, so check your own manual before you assume the TV’s buttons can do it.

Limits of older manuals
The S43P28F and SLED3215 documents are older model-specific manuals. Their menus and button functions may not match a newer set or a later software update. If your model is not listed on the download page, do not substitute a manual for a different number.
Step 3: Choose a fallback when the buttons fall short
If the physical controls cannot reach the menu or input you need, you have two practical options. Verify compatibility with your exact model number before you buy anything.

Using a phone or Bluetooth remote
Sansui’s official FAQ covers pairing a Bluetooth remote and using remote navigation for source and channel functions. The published material does not establish that a phone app can control every Sansui model. Check your TV platform and the manual for your model before you install an app or rely on it for control.

If the TV still doesn’t respond
If basic troubleshooting does not fix the problem, Sansui’s FAQ recommends the following steps:

- Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cable and turn the TV on.
- If the problem persists, contact a Sansui service center.
Sansui advises against attempting self-repair. Opening the set or trying to fix internal components can void a warranty and create safety risks.
- Keep the model number and purchase details ready when you contact service.
- Describe which buttons and functions you tested so the service staff can narrow the cause.
Physical buttons, the model’s manual, and an exact-model remote solve most cases of a lost remote. For everything else, the service route above is the one Sansui recommends.
