The OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 15R make different on-paper trade-offs: the 15R lists a newer Snapdragon platform, a 165Hz display and a larger stated battery, while the 12 offers a higher-resolution screen, wireless charging and a dedicated 3x periscope telephoto camera. There is no defensible current price difference without matching live prices for the same country and storage configuration.

Which display is better?
The OnePlus 12 has the higher listed resolution: OnePlus describes its screen as 2K, compared with the 15R’s 2800 × 1272 FHD+ panel. The 15R has the higher maximum listed refresh rate, up to 165Hz, while the 12 is listed at 120Hz. Those figures describe different strengths, not a measured verdict on brightness, color, viewing angles or overall image quality.
For sharper detail on paper, the 12 has the advantage. If you value a higher refresh ceiling, the 15R is the one to consider, bearing in mind that OnePlus limits 144Hz and 165Hz support to listed apps.
How do performance and memory compare?
OnePlus lists Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 for the 15R and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for the 12. The 15R specification page lists 12GB LPDDR5X Ultra memory and UFS 4.1 storage; OnePlus’s 12 launch material lists configurations up to 16GB LPDDR5X memory and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage.

These specifications establish a newer listed chipset generation in the 15R and a higher maximum memory configuration in the 12’s launch material. They do not establish which phone is faster in everyday use or gaming: no comparable benchmark or hands-on performance test is available here. Check the exact regional configuration before buying, since the listed maximums do not mean every version has that amount of memory or storage.
Battery capacity and charging: what the numbers tell you
The 15R’s listed typical capacity is 7400mAh, against 5400mAh for the OnePlus 12. That gives the 15R the larger stated battery, but capacity alone cannot establish which phone lasts longer in real-world use. No independent comparative endurance test is established here.

Confirm the rates and compatible accessories for your region before treating manufacturer figures as available in your setup.

Camera comparison: the 12 has a dedicated telephoto lens
OnePlus’s launch material identifies a 3x periscope telephoto camera on the OnePlus 12. The U.S. 15R specification page identifies a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide camera, but does not identify a telephoto module. On the cited specifications, the 12 is the clearer choice if a dedicated optical telephoto camera is important.

A reliable current price difference cannot be given from the available evidence: it does not establish live prices for both phones in the same market and storage configuration. Prices can vary with country, capacity, retailer, discounts, trade-ins and stock. The OnePlus 12 was announced on January 23, 2024; that launch date does not establish its current retail price or availability. OnePlus’s announcement

For a useful comparison, check both listings in your country on the same date and match their storage capacities as closely as possible. Record the retailer, configuration and whether the amount includes a sale or trade-in offer. Without those details, a single difference in price could be misleading.
