The OnePlus 12 added a newer processor, a larger display, a higher-capacity battery, wireless charging and revised zoom hardware over the OnePlus 11. At US launch, it also cost $100 more: $799.99 versus $699.99. Those are historical starting prices, not current offers, so today’s better value depends on live prices and the exact model available.

How much more did the OnePlus 12 cost?
The US launch starting prices were $699.99 for the OnePlus 11 in 2023 and $799.99 for the OnePlus 12 in 2024—a $100 increase. The $100 figure is the difference between those launch prices, not a current price comparison. OnePlus’s product page still displays “From $699.99” for the 11, but that does not confirm stock or a like-for-like offer; current pricing and seller availability can change.
For the 12’s $799.99 US launch starting price, see TechRadar’s OnePlus 12 launch coverage. OnePlus’s US product page lists the 11’s starting price at oneplus.com/us/11.

What changes with the OnePlus 12?
Newer processor generation
The OnePlus 12 moves from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. That makes it the newer platform, but a generation change alone does not establish how much faster it is in everyday use, games or sustained workloads. OnePlus’s performance figures are manufacturer claims, not independent comparative benchmark results.
Larger display and higher stated battery capacity
The 12 has a 6.82-inch display compared with the 11’s 6.7-inch panel. Both are high-end QHD+ displays with refresh rates up to 120Hz; the 11’s listed panel is dynamic LTPO with a 1–120Hz range. The 12’s typical battery capacity is 5400mAh, 400mAh more than the 11’s 5000mAh. Capacity figures do not by themselves prove longer real-world battery life.
Wireless charging and regional wired speeds
The OnePlus 12 supports 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging. The US OnePlus 11 product page explicitly lists no wireless charging, making this a clear hardware addition for anyone who wants to charge without a cable. For wired charging, the cited US 11 page lists 80W, and OnePlus’s North American launch material lists 80W for the 12. Do not assume those wired speeds apply to every regional variant.

Revised camera hardware
The main camera changes from a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor in the 11 to a 50MP Sony LYT-808 in the 12. OnePlus describes the newer sensor as larger. The telephoto hardware also changes: the 11’s product page lists a 32MP camera with 2× optical zoom, while the 12’s launch specifications list a 64MP 3× periscope telephoto. These are meaningful specification differences, but they do not prove which phone takes better photos; that requires comparative image testing.

Which phone should you choose?
Choose the OnePlus 12 if its added hardware matters to you
- You want the newer Snapdragon platform.
- You prefer a larger display.
- You use wireless charging and want 50W AIRVOOC support.
- You want the newer 3× periscope telephoto design.
Consider the OnePlus 11 if the current price is substantially lower
The 11 may make more sense if you can find it at a much lower price and do not need the 12’s wireless charging, larger screen or newer platform. Compare the actual storage configuration, seller and condition—especially for used or discounted units—rather than treating the original $100 launch gap as today’s value difference.
Check software support before deciding
OnePlus’s official OnePlus 11 specifications state a commitment of at least four Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates from launch. The cited official material does not establish the corresponding duration for the OnePlus 12, so do not assume the commitment is identical. Review the support terms for the exact model and market if update longevity is a deciding factor.
