For a low-end PC streaming a mostly static Bengali music playlist, start with 1280×720 at 30 fps, H.264, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, 3 Mbps video, and stereo AAC at 128 Kbps. These are YouTube’s recommended starting settings for 720p/30—not a guarantee for every computer or internet connection. Test privately before going public, and confirm you have permission to livestream every track and keep any replay.
Recommended OBS settings to start with
| Setting | Starting value | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Output resolution | 1280×720 | A practical starting point for a static cover image or simple visualizer; lower it if the PC or connection struggles. |
| Frame rate | 30 fps | Usually sufficient for a static image or low-motion visualizer and less demanding than 60 fps. |
| Video codec | H.264 | YouTube’s encoder guidance specifies H.264 for this profile. |
| Rate control | CBR | YouTube specifies constant bitrate for encoder streams. |
| Video bitrate | 3,000 Kbps | YouTube recommends 3 Mbps for H.264 at 720p/30. Its listed range for this mode is 2–6 Mbps. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds. |
| Audio | AAC, stereo, 128 Kbps | YouTube’s stated stereo audio recommendation. |
The bitrate is for video; audio adds to the total stream bitrate. YouTube recommends keeping upload capacity at least 20% above the total stream bitrate. Leave additional room for other devices and upload activity sharing the connection. These figures come from YouTube’s published encoder guidance, not a benchmark on a particular low-end PC. YouTube: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Choose an encoder your PC can sustain
Try an available hardware encoder
If OBS offers a supported hardware encoder on the PC, try it first. Hardware encoding moves work from the CPU to a specialized GPU component and generally has minimal performance impact. However, older hardware encoders can produce lower image quality at the same bitrate. Check the stream preview and playback instead of assuming hardware encoding will look best.
Use x264 if hardware encoding is unavailable or unstable
With x264, choose a faster CPU preset and reduce the output resolution or frame rate if OBS reports encoding overload. The best preset depends on the computer’s processor and cannot be specified reliably without its details. Avoid raising resolution or frame rate just because OBS allows it: for a static image, the extra load may not improve what viewers see.

Scrolling lyrics, animated visualizers, and frequent scene changes contain more motion than a static cover. Check those visuals at the intended bitrate; if they look blocky or the stream drops frames, try lowering resolution or frame rate before pushing the bitrate beyond what the connection can sustain. OBS explains the trade-offs between hardware and software encoding in its encoding performance troubleshooting guide.
Configure and test the YouTube stream
- Check channel eligibility. Live streaming must be enabled. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Initial activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream using an encoder. Copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: it directs the encoder feed and allows YouTube to accept it. Do not share it publicly.
- Set OBS output and audio. Enter the video profile above in OBS’s output settings, set stereo AAC audio to 128 Kbps, and add the playlist audio source and the intended image or visual. Make sure desktop audio is not capturing the same playlist a second time.
- Check that audio is actually reaching OBS. Play the playlist and watch the OBS audio meter. Listen for silence, clipping, or unintended desktop sounds.
- Run a test stream, preferably unlisted. Use the real playlist audio and representative visuals. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health, then watch the playback on another device. YouTube recommends testing audio and movement similar to the real stream and monitoring stream health and audio/video quality. Its guidance says: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.” YouTube encoder guidance.
Fix common stream problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| OBS reports encoding overload or the picture stutters | The PC cannot encode the selected output load in real time. | Try a working hardware encoder already available in OBS; otherwise use a faster x264 preset. Reduce output resolution or frame rate, then test again. |
| Network-dropped frames or unstable stream health | Upload capacity is insufficient or fluctuating, or another device is using the connection. | Check upload speed and shared network use. Leave YouTube’s recommended 20% upload headroom above total stream bitrate; if needed, lower the bitrate and resolution. |
| Image looks blocky during lyrics or animation | Motion is high for the chosen bitrate, or the bitrate is constrained by the connection. | Test at the target bitrate. Simplify motion or lower resolution/frame rate if necessary; do not raise bitrate unless upload capacity can carry it reliably. |
| Stream is silent, too quiet, or distorted | The wrong audio source may be selected, the OBS meter may not be receiving the playlist, or levels may be clipping. | Confirm the correct source and meter activity, remove duplicated desktop capture, and listen to the test stream for silence or clipping. |
| YouTube does not receive the encoder feed | The stream URL or key may be wrong, or live streaming may not yet be enabled on the channel. | Recheck the URL and key in OBS and verify channel eligibility in YouTube Studio. Keep the key private. |
Separate encoding problems from network problems before changing settings: an encoder overload calls for less work on the PC, while network-dropped frames call for a more reliable connection or lower stream bitrate.

Clear music rights before broadcasting
A track being playable in a browser or available in a YouTube playlist does not establish permission to rebroadcast it in a livestream. Confirm rights for every track, territory, and intended use. The permission should explicitly cover live streaming on YouTube and, if you plan to leave the stream replay available, archived playback too. Check the actual license terms, attribution obligations, track list, and any Content ID procedures; a generic “royalty-free” label alone is not proof that your use is covered. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance tells creators to respect audio and video rights, but it does not clear any particular Bengali playlist or licensing service.
